Paul writes brilliant melodies like other people write shopping lists.

This song is so darn melodic I can’t imagine it being a throwaway song but Paul is so prolific you never know

Wow, after your comments I went back and listened to it. I'd never noticed before that John yells the wrong word in the background, from time to time. You're very observant. But, I guess that tendency to pick these songs apart is what allows you to find clues regarding what tuning Keith used on this song, what tuning John Fogerty used on that song, and how to get the "Hollywood Nights" rhythm with just the right feel. And, then, we get to learn it from you, so thanks for that!!

If Paul had given this song to someone like Peter & Gordon it would have been a number one. As a Beatles tune it’s half forgotten.

I think Del Shannon could have also done justice to it as well.

This was no throwaway…..who else could come up with that change from B minor to E?……as you said….the genius chord 👍🍷

My favourite early Beatles album, think it signalled the advent of their transition to the 'mature' sound of Rubber Soul and Revolver...Such simple chords, just goes to show it's the knack of creating a killer melody top line which separates the men from the boys...Great lesson as always, thanks.

Thanks I love that song. Plus Ringo's drums at beginning. I think he got from Hal Blaine "Be My Baby" . I like when you sing along while doing lessons it helps me with chords changes timing. That guitar lick George does on 12 string that makes the song.

I always loved this one, for me it was one of the first tunes where they started sounding like the later Beatles - must be that Bm.

I remember listening to this song when I was 15 all the time because my best friend’s sister and I liked each other but she didn’t know what to do about it so it was off and on. Idk why I’m saying this but that’s what this song reminds me of bc it’s exactly how I felt

Cool pick again JJ. This was one of the first Beatle songs that I learned the Guitar lick for. Its on the 2nd Position off a A chord shape. George on the Rick 360/12 is superb. and Ringo has a really neat way of drumming on this song. I agree with others your doing the vocals makes your lessons even better

Paul called these songs “work songs”-Songs that they considered fillers for the album. I’m with you JJ this is a great song.

PT - Singing quite impressive, adds a lot to the video in reference to section of the song being played.

The jangly guitar line that’s played over the d and g chords is nice too…is this “help” era sounds a bit like it (?)

I looked it up and it’s on 64’ s Beatles “for sale” and George plays the guitar riff on his ricker 12 string…still pretty good for a pot boiler
Thnx James for the deep tracks

Thanks for the vid. Why don't you voice the B on A string when you play G?

Can you tell me why B minor to E is genius?
