The only logical reason someone like Cody can match up to those who’s trained their lives in martial arts is that the absurd amount of fights he’s been in accumulated into enough experience to either match or surpass that of a martial artist.
He's not even that. He keeps denying he's a 'hero' but when something 'interesting' turns up(usually involving evil, or Shadowloo) BOOM. Busts out to deal with it. Then goes back to his cell when he's done. Guy's trying to get him to just admit it and live normally, but...
Cody is one of the most badass characters in the Final Fight/Street Fighter series. Hands down my favorite character from Capcom and this theme is an awesome Spin on the Classic Final Fight theme. Plus the dude doesn't need Hadokens or Shoryukens to be a badass. Rocks, Knives, Pipes, Tornados and Handcuffs can get you to God Tier rank.
Remember how Cody broke out of jail by punching a hole in his wall and the only reason he did was because he was bored and wanted simething to do? Remember how the only reason he fights with his handcuffs on is because it would make the fights too boring otherwise? I remember.

Not true. Final fight was originally called street fighter 89'. Years before sf2 came out. They changed the name because it wasn't like the original crappy sf. So technically cody guy and haggar was there before alot of characters in 2. 91 sf2 came out. But sf 89 was placed before sf and probably before alpha since they brought in cody in the jail suit in sfa3. Cody is an og just like Guy.

Emotions of regret has been replaced with..... 1:24-1:43 Determination and resolve. You can hear the main intro to Final Fight again. The very same part that played when Cody swore to rescue Jessica. Now, Cody has recaptured that same determination. This time, he'll use it to clear his name.

Man Cody's character development is insane: After freeing Metro City from the Madgear Gang, Cody couldn't live a peaceful life and went on a fighting rampage which lead him in jail, he also found jail-life to be incredibly boring which tuned him into the bored, laid-back scrapper he today. Now that's character development!
I mean, I am super stoked that Cody is the new character in SFV but I think his lore to become the new mayor is pretty bad. Because his minimal effort personality and nihilistic world view formed his opinions about the world. Yes he likes to lie to himself about being there for people, but I liked how he was burned for doing a good thing. The World turned its back on Cody and I would have preferred it if Cody thought the feeling was mutual.
The world might've turned its back on him, but not those loyal to him, especially Haggar, Guy and Jessica. Cody was NEVER one to let that type of stuff get to him, especially when it came to what others thought of him; hes always done what he felt was right, even if it was wrong, but the end result was all that mattered. Him becoming Mayor, imo, is a nice passing of the torch and great development towards his character. Hes been in the streets, hes been in the prisons and now hes in office. Hes seen all there is to see when it comes to crime and knows the faces of the law. Him and Guy protected Metro City before, and in Haggars absence, theres no one else more fit for the position than him.
His story is so sad. But whatever how much you care for people and community, they always take you down and they love those who brings evil in this world.

Yeah, and like, he easily *could* throw fireballs, he's canonically one of the strongest fighters. He just doesn't care enough or have any need to do more than throw rocks.

Man Cody's character development is insane: After freeing Metro City from the Madgear Gang, Cody couldn't live a peaceful life and went on a fighting rampage which lead him in jail, he also found jail-life to be incredibly boring which tuned him into the bored, laid-back scrapper he today. Now that's character development!

I mean, I am super stoked that Cody is the new character in SFV but I think his lore to become the new mayor is pretty bad. Because his minimal effort personality and nihilistic world view formed his opinions about the world. Yes he likes to lie to himself about being there for people, but I liked how he was burned for doing a good thing. The World turned its back on Cody and I would have preferred it if Cody thought the feeling was mutual.
The world might've turned its back on him, but not those loyal to him, especially Haggar, Guy and Jessica. Cody was NEVER one to let that type of stuff get to him, especially when it came to what others thought of him; hes always done what he felt was right, even if it was wrong, but the end result was all that mattered.
Him becoming Mayor, imo, is a nice passing of the torch and great development towards his character. Hes been in the streets, hes been in the prisons and now hes in office. Hes seen all there is to see when it comes to crime and knows the faces of the law. Him and Guy protected Metro City before, and in Haggars absence, theres no one else more fit for the position than him.
