  • The Shawshank Redemption, starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, is known not only for its surprise twist, but also its message of hope even in the bleakest of circumstances. In this video analysis, I share why the theme resonates so universally with audiences.

    Great stuff! I never noticed the harmonica playing when red decided to follow Andy. Sharp eye (and ear) for detail!

    How wonderful your stories are. I sat and cried at the loss of my life while listening to your rendition of Bagger Vance. Thank you for the blessing of explaining that life is about God.

    what a brilliant analysis. having watched this, knives out, & life of pi, i have to attest that your life of pi analysis was the best. it had more connections. this channel is gold! any other channels you recommend like this? i like every frame a painting.

      Glad you enjoyed it! Not all movies are as richly symbolic and connected as Life of Pi. In addition to 'Every Frame a Painting', I would recommend checking out 'Like Stories of Old', 'Lessons from the Screenplay', 'Now You See It', 'and 'Just Write'. Let me know if you come across any others that you like.

      @@MoralofthisStory Yes, I will. Don't know if you take recommendations but I would love for you to do analysis on mind-fuck movies like Parasite, Coherence, Predestination, The Sixth Sense, & maybe Hitchcock movies. Brilliant work man, I'm a fan :)

    II never cease to be amazed at Stephen King's muse. He created this story and The Green Mile, which deserves to be labeled "Epic". The way the stories function on multiple levels and always resolve with perfect pitch irony is astonishing. The only other person I know with a capacity to write like that is J.K. Rowling. I loved your treatment of this one. Andy turns his enemies (the guards) into his allies by giving them an option to exercise enlightened self-interest in the deals he wants them to make. As you pointed out, he is in the prison, but the prison is never in him. In time, the prison will no longer be in Ellis either.
    Well done brother.

      Moral of this Story Of course! It really helps people to understand why these films are so important as not just rooting for the good guy but also the meanings of everything behind the film and every part of them. Well done!

  • @coinsaver

    there's a scene where the warden almost keeps Andy's bible, the hiding place for his rock hammer.
    here's what I don't get. by that time, Andy had "burrowed in" the wall at least a couple of feet.
    why didn't he just hide the hammer behind the poster in the few carved out feet. he could have hidden the carved out bible there, too.
    if they found it there, he was already 'busted', as they'd see the starting hole.
    in Shawshank it would be easy to get a replacement bible through the underground to hand the warden.

    • @MoralofthisStory
      @MoralofthisStory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right of course, but the scene was designed to create suspense and also for the double meaning of the line 'salvation lies within'.
