I've been sewing my whole life (I'm 65), and you gave me four points to know that I never knew before! The one point you gave was to match the stripes and not to worry about the selvage, the other was to draw the curve line before sewing, and the last was to pull from the bobbin thread for gathering. I knew that one, but never followed it per se, so I didn't know why my gathering pulls would lock up. Now I know! The last was the cute way she finished off the zipper with the ribbon. Thanks! This was a great TH-cam video!
I’m a 47 year old father of a 4 year old girl. We are watching this because she insists I start making her dresses. Guess I’m learning a new skill. Luckily I already have a sewing machine I’ve used for repairs my jeans😂. This video is awesome. I appreciate the detailed instructions. I’ll need them!
You are magnificent, and the you tube I have been searching for. I am a beginner sewer and you are so meticulous and precise, I can learn from you. Thank you so much for sharing! You have inspired me to make a dress step by step for my granddaughters. Thank you. From beautiful Homestead Florida.
I am 26 and have a one year old. I have been teaching myself how to sew and mend things for years but this video makes me excited to try and sew cute dresses for my daughter
Nice with the close-ups! :) I started sewing a dress yesterday, and too late found out, that I've cut it against the grainline. God! why wasn't I born creative???? Like you guys.
Sybil Stephens hahah I definitely wasn’t born to know sewing. I once made a jumpsuit and it looked like a potato sack, I never wore it... but you learn with mistakes! I’ve made plenty and sometimes you can get away with cutting against the grain line. Depends on the fabric and if you need the stretch.
I've never made a dress before and have been looking for the right video. I believe this is it! Thanks for this tutorial, it will be easier to follow then most I have looked at.
Thank you for the demonstration. I'm looking to make a dress for my granddaughter and was looking around at ideas and of course "how to." I loved hearing the Kiwi accent as I travel there once a year on business. I know this video was a couple of years ago but I enjoyed it.
years ago I did fashion sewing, for about 16 yrs I have done only quilting embroidery and crafty things. well I have a 6 yr old GD who wants me to sew for her. So here I am looking to refresh what I knew back then. ty & Bernadette
My Mom is a dressmaker, when i was a kid my Mom make dresses for me, now I have my own daughter I don’t even know how to make dress for her, i know how to sew but I don’t know how to make dress. Glad i watched the this whole video and thats a very nice dress! 🤩😍
Loved this video. I was only listening to it for background sound and within 2 minutes I Loved learning so many techniques that I could not stop watching and have ordered this dress.
Wow ... it so amazing thankyou for sharing how to sew a dress .. i love making dress for my daughter .. this is a big help for me .. god blessed you ..
I really loved the way you presented this video. I thought you were going to tell me about your day, but you, quite professionally went straight to the point. Nice! When I search for videos on TH-cam, I'm already very desperate, and don't have patience, and then some people tell you long stories. Even though the video only last about 19 min., believe me, it will still take me 2 days to make, if I'm lucky. :) Then it is nice to follow the instructions in my own pace, and watch the video maybe 6 times per day, and imagine how many times I have to fast forward, and rewind, to get pass all the talk about God knows what! , as if I have time to spare. :) Anyway, you guys did very well, thanks very much. I absolutely saved your video for further use. :)
Sybil Stephens yes I really try to include lots of information, I always prepare a script and edit it with the video, takes a looong time but worth it. I hate videos that take long to get to the point so I try to avoid that :)
Wow really its amazing. You made such a great video explaining things easily. While sweing dress to my daughter i followed all the tips and tricks explained inthis video and tge dress turned out really good. Please make such videos
I just came across this tutorial as I was searching for how to draft baby's dress pattern. I had to stop by to wash you do the sewing and I like your work so neat. Can you please do a tutorial on baby's pattern drafting? I will appreciate. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this great video. I am struggling to put a zipper in a toddlers dress atm. The zipper is a normal zip not invisible. Would it make a difference as to how its sewn in? because for the life of me the designer seems to make the instructions impossible to understand.
Please make more tutorials of clothing, you’re literally the only person who actually broke it down . Literally the only video that was able to teach me or can I contact you any way?
Brenda_ Unborn_lives_matter thanks Brenda! The zipper is 30cm I think which is around 12”. The invisible zippers can always be cut short from the bottom if needed

That is the lining. It is a white lightweight cotton. It is called Cotton Voile and is great for lining cotton or linen dresses due its natural, breathable composition.

I’m am new to sewing, I’m having a very difficult time figuring out how to sew the skirt on because it doesn’t line up right.
What particularly helps is you state what less desirable effect happens whenever one alters or changes the process of the directions as demonstrated.😁
Thanks for your advice! I'll keep it in mind for the videos to come.
@@melannsfabrics Made the bodice in stripes your way, for A-Line, sz.2T w/fabric from auntie's shortened, long sundress.
That’s adorable!!! Thank you!
What foot presser did you use ?
What’s the fabric inside out when you started to so the armholes?
