Re-rendered and optimized for high-definition (from interlaced to progressive), and subsequently re-optimized for video streaming.
This is Season 1, Episode 6a, originally released under "The New Archie and Sabrina Hour" (advertised as The Archie-Sabrina Show) in 1977, later under "The Bang-Shang Lollapalooza", and finally "The Archie and Sabrina Surprise Package" (that's not confusing at all by the way, in case you were worried about my mental state after reading through what feels like 500 titles for just this one show). This show is cast with most of the same voice actors from Filmation's previous Archie/Sabrina content, though you can tell that a few of them are slightly out of practice. It's also apparent that the animators were able to use newer animation presets in conjunction with existing ones (probably at gunpoint) instead of recycling the same 5,000 presets 12 trillion times over. The end credits song is an instrumental of the theme song for the Super Witch series. ( • Super Witch (1977) Car... ) Directed by Don Towsley and produced by Don Christensen, Norm Prescott, and Lou Scheimer, slowed down to match the original NTSC speed, pitch, and 60Hz frequency to correct the common habit Hallmark Cards had of speeding up Filmation's materials throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s for PAL home media releases, this would then be followed up by Hallmark discarding the original film negatives and sound masters (the currently missing Comedy Hour music segments were most likely long gone by this time, they didn't show up on Archie/Sabrina content after syndication in 1976, that or they were cut from the NTSC videotape reels for other reasons), something that wasn't known (but suspected) until after Entertainment Rights' acquisition of Filmation's materials in 2004.
Inspired by "crime prevention week" hosted by the school and police department, the kids open their own law enforcement agency with Reggie as head, as he sits around while everyone else works on renovating the building they found to use. Reggie bumps heads with Sabrina and picks up some of her powers, attributing it to "positive thinking", because of a book he'd been reading. Scammers under the guise of a local law firm come in with an elderly lady complaining about her haunted house, which was set up by the scammers to chase the woman away so that they could drill there for oil. Once the kids catch wind of this, they flip the house against the scammers and they get arrested by the same cop who pulled Reggie over in the first episode.
This episode has been included on The Archie and Sabrina Surprise Package DVD Boxset (Region 4) from 2009.
