As I expected, Dido did well. This is because of her loyalty advantage. Since this was a one-continent map, all of her cities would have had full loyalty at all times. So she was never going to lose any of her cities except to conquest. That's a huge advantage on a crowded map where everybody is one dark age away from losing the game... except Dido. As for city growth, there are a lot of ways to grow in snow. There are policy cards that double palace yields, trade routes that give food, pantheons that provide food, religious buildings that provide food and production, neighborhood food markets, tiles affected by hurricanes/volcanoes, and all that faith generated from holy sites can be used with gov plaza building to buy units, or golden age bonus to buy civilian units. The AI actually did a good job exploiting those mechanics to stay alive. Some better than others.
if you can try a map but split it into four sectors. 1 is rain forest, 1 is desert, 1 is snow and 1 is ocean/achipelego type. you can alter the rain forest if you want to whatever biome you want. and out each civ in its own respective biome. e.g, russia is tundra. arabia is desert, congo is rainforest and maori is ocean
Theories why each ending civ was so successful +Germany can build one more district in cities that the population would normally allow. When most of your cities are stuck at one or two population being able to double the amount of districts you can build is a huge advantage. That and their military policy slot could help them produce more units faster than others. +Kongo having all the buffs to their relics gives them way more yields than everyone else, their swordsmen replacements require no iron (I think they still don't need it). +Canada gets extra production from their mines and their hockey rinks are the biggest boon you could have on a map like this. +Phoenicia while loosing all of their water and settler bonuses gain more trade routes from building their government plaza, which gives them more yields. +Maori... actually I don't know why they worked so well. Maybe because their UU is so good while not needing iron and being able to place down their super forts
Loved it! Definitely do a jungle world and maybe one where you put all the “sliders” in the create a customized world screen to one side; so, IIRC, max young earth, max hot earth, whatever all the choices are.
When i saw that i thought " well this is time for my boy Russia" And then i realize that russian tile yield bonus only works for tundra , not snow. In the end its gonna be some random country that has nothing to do with snow that does the best, i bet UPD. Lol it ended up basically being between Germany , Canada and Phoenicia. Well idk if i was wrong or not
Sadly that doesn’t work, since only 5 natural disasters can be active at once and when a volcano starts to boil that counts as a natural, and another disaster when it actually erupts. So pretty much they never erupt :(

It makes sense that the Phoenicians and Maori did as good as they did, they are both naval civs. Snow is just solid water, so they were still playing in a water world, thus they did good.
What if all tiles were hill forest tiles completely surrounded by rivers? Lots of production, slow movement and heavy defense bonus, discovering bridges first would give an insane bonus
I like a map where every civ starts in the sea, and there are like a couple of single land tiles randomly. But in the middle there is like a big nice juicy tropical island with jungle and volocano which gives huge advantages and it would be funny to see which civs can claim it and hold it
