I don't know anything about crawling so when I was looking to buy my first crawler the Gen 8 looked like a good deal for $300. I'm glad I decided to buy it. I've done a couple things to it in the past few months that were recommended in a video on this channel. Transmitter upgrade, new servo, softer foams, tuck in the rear bumper. I already had another transmitter and servo so the only money I spent was on the foams. Will probably do a few more upgrades in the future but for right now I am very happy with the truck.

I make a point to see what you have to say about things, you and only a few others, good reviews and input are good to have, but I feel many of these comparisons area bit nit-picky, since as you pointed out, any mods or adjustment can change the dynamics of any of them. They all prove to be good vehicles and have strengths and weaknesses, but none to the point of being too much better or worse. In the end the real question is, are they worth the money, for all three the answer is absolutely. Thanks again, you add much to the hobby.
Tbf the choice of cars make the Gen 8 better than it is. It should have gone against the trx4 sport as the price is a lot closer or against the Bronco if comparing with similar body's. The Defender is strictly a trail truck and nobody buys it for rock crawling. The biggest loser here was Axial imo. They are the newest and most expensive but aren't very good rock crawlers.
Just added some proline flat irons, and a Club5 servo relocate bracket to my Gen 8. Wow, that's all you need for this to turn an climb with the trx4 Blazer. They will both be getting a stronger servo, but are a ton of fun.
Hello Francis, I'm thinking of buying my first RC crawler but I can't decide between the TRX 4 defender and the red cat gen 8. I feel I would go for the gen 8 axe edition just because of the upgrades I feel I would do anyway. Which one would be your go to between TRX 4 and gen 8 axe. Thank you.

Hats off to you for that. 👍🏽 The Gen 8 supeised me a little on this. I was considering a second crawler (I have the trx4 defender) and the Gen 8 may be a viable option. Thanks again.

Thanks to your unbiased videos I decided to buy the trx4 Bronco today over the scx10III.
Good choice!
It was actually a great surprise that they kept up with each other.
TRX-4 Bronco/ Blazer
The others are nice. And cheeper for a reason.
TRX-4 is top of it's line. Imo
Keep the shiny side up.
i like all three :), and your videos too
That's our takeaway too. Whoever gets to experience all three wins.
I think the scx 10 3 looks the best and the trx4 has the best under carriage nice video 👍👍👊🔥🔥
I agree with you
Great video. Do you have a link to the parts to fix the gen 8 belly bump ? Thanks for all your hard work on the channel.
DuggRC you can get the flat skid plate from the Redcat website. $12.99 I think
Thank you
Personal opinion I think the III did best. heavry shock oil is a must ..What rims are on the III .
would love to see the same review after the mods have been done to all these crawlers, to see the difference from stock across the board
Noted!
Love my gen 8,but haven’t been as reliable as I thought;wasn’t that much cheaper than trx4.... still love that body...
They are the newest and most expensive but aren't very good rock crawlers.
excellent content guy keep up the good content
Love how my gen 8 crawls. To bad 3 weeks in and my front portals and cva pinion input gears are toast.... parts nowhere to be found(cvs at least)
Very informative video. Keep up the great work!
Nicely done video, like all you do!
Love to see the tamiya cr-01 once in a comparison! Keep up the good work
Love my trx4 Blazer, an with some new tires for my gen 8 I think I have the perfect pair for crawling. They get along great.
Most definitely. Look so realistic as well.
Thank you.
I would say the Traxxas because your able to do so much more customization and upgrades/ spare parts
Another great video.
These are quite appreciated.
I notice this and a few of other videos where you engage the children around you. Hats off to you for that. 👍🏽
The Gen 8 supeised me a little on this.
I was considering a second crawler (I have the trx4 defender) and the Gen 8 may be a viable option.
Thanks again.
Having a hard time deciding between gen8 and enduro. What's your recommendation? First time into crawling, whats the best option....enduro vs gen8 shootout??;)
I have both the gen 8 and trx4 both great trucks
Throw the RGT Challenger in the mix. And see how it does amongst the popular kids
I have a question? Is the redcat gen 8 axe edition worth the extra cost as opposed to the regular gen 8?
Nice video of some Great trucks making Great climbs 👍🏼Thanks
That SCX10 iii is sweet!
I love to see your comparison videos! I like capabilities each one has. This is where the modding comes in to make improvements. I have a trx4 that I changed to the 12.3 wb. Also did an enduro ifs which I can't wait to try and my tf2 swb rc4wd which does better than I thought.
Keep up the great videos
In your opinion which climber did you like the best I'm having a hard time making a decision to purchase one any advice would be grateful thanks
If Traxxas make a two doors version of the Defender it would be unbeatable. 🙂
Trx bronco or trx blazer instead of the defender
How can you make a comparison if they’re not box stock?
Nice comparo. Having a bit of regret selling my Gen8 platform. For me it has its merits against the ‘favorites’. Maybe I’ll get one again soon...build up from a PACK.
Have you had a chance since filming this footage to change shock oil and or maybe the spring rate on the scx10.3..?
Intrested to see where a few small tuning items take the axial.
Can't wait to get hold of one..
Cheers mate 👍
Yes! All the filming is done. The good news is the Axial work up. 5 mods are documented here. But we did a total of 7 now. th-cam.com/video/5RcaH4MZkYM/w-d-xo.html
@@RCReviewChannel Thanks FC... I'll check it out while eating lunch.
Cheers mate 👍
@@RCReviewChannel Tricked me... thought it was run footage. I've already watched that one as almost all of your videos.
I wait with anticipation then..Lol.
Cheers 👍
Nice video, awesome chanel, best rewievs, great comparison...

More to come! Thank you. We are not afraid to bring out independent thought
Awesome channel and video thank you
I’ve got the blazer and my daughter has the trx6. Love them. Want something different in a kit once something’s in stock.
