How good are you when playing over a 2 5 1 progression? Be honest…You know it’s a chord progression that has a high percentage in jazz and popular tunes…Truth is, if you want your improvisation skills to go up, you need to start understanding how to navigate your way through these chords in both major and minor keys. But don’t worry help is on the way…Press play and start learning! And be sure to download the accompanying PDF because that has all the good stuff for the minor keys as well :-) download link: www.joehubbardbass.com/youtube-store-page/

I struggle a bit with your concept, but when I hear what you play, it is so refreshing, I am so bored with my own lines, I will watch this again and again until I get what you're saying, thank you, you are inspirational Cheers

Super cool video as usual!!! I have to learn that stuff backwards and forwards! LOL
Btw, this bass has punch! It sounds even better than previous ones. Have you attached ramp? How it feels?

This is again this very cool concept of superimposing different chords over the actual chord progression that you keep stressing, and gives your playing that very modern jazz sound. All the great players do that , and whatever instrument they play, from John Coltrane to Mohini Dey including you of course.
YOU HAVE A NICE AND CLEAR PEDAGOGIC SPEAKING SKILL, SO NEVER STOP....
    BASS UP!!

My next step will be the "New II V I Encyclopedia Course" ... Though I'm still digesting some cool concepts in the 2-Year Bass Mastery Course, I will leap into the II V I Encyclopedia Course and sign up for life. Amazing lesson once again Joe !!

Hey sir I'm just a regular person who cannot play by ear at all right now, there is really no place for me to go to play my bass guitar except to other people homes or garage or basements or church to play my bass, the area i live in nothing goes on around here or the other towns around us either,
So I am saying that is it really important that I study music and learn how to read music?or just learn how to play completely by ear, they say around here that you need to learn how to play completely by ear first before you start studying music or you will be chained to the music stand forever and never be able to play completely by ear at all!!?? Also they say around here that you don't need to study music cause there's no need for it and no were to go play with music around here, so just learn how to play completely by ear, cause that's the way it's done here, and there is no where to go to after you study music 🎶??????? I am 52 years old now I don't have any plans of trying to make it big or be a professional or studio sessions player or anything like that, so I was just wondering what you have to say about all this stuff okay, thank you so much,

There's an old saying, " When the sh*t hits the fan, you will never simply rise to the occasion, but only ever fall to YOUR level of training." So, if your training sucks, so will you.

Wow that a straight shot from the hip!!!and a straight point also, so if you're practicing sucks you're playing does also?the better you practice the better you will play correct????so taking lessons is the way to improve your playing!?meaning don't stay down in the shit!get and rise above it and get out of it!? So is this correct 🤔???

@@scottyshepardthesmoothdeep3081 Yes, learning by ear will only ever get you so far. What many people don't get is that we're playing music and to be able to really play to have to know the vital components of music period. I'm not talking about just learning theory either- I'm talking about a complete holistic system where you'll understand music from the micro to the macro and be able to play what you hear.
