*I like the design of the **Bestt.Digital** translator , and charging case. It is little bit heavy. The application is easy to use, but there are things to be improved. For example, I knew the earbud are connected to the phone, but I didn’t know I need to reconfirm it again, so I would be able to use “Speaker mode” . I took sometime to find it though.*
To fix the problem of the other speaker speaking in too complex sentences, just have the device say something like, "After the beep, please speak more simply and clearly so I can understand better!" When you press the 'Japanese to English' (separate) button. It beeps, the person talks into the forward facing mic when you hold it out for them, then it speaks it out at you with an inward speaker in English. And it should be programmed only to do this phrase on the first press within a 3 minute period so it won't keep repeating it every time, but by the time you might speak to a new person it will repeat it. That would fix the issue and make it far more useful so someone can REPLY. Not every question can be answered with actions or hand gestures. I love this technology but for $250 it is too much for only one way communication. :( Two way would make it worth the investment. Great job and hope to see it develop more!
My dad invented a similar device back in early 2000's but it's used in hospital systems. It also 3 ways in a live medically trained interpreter to monitor the conversation to ensure everything is accurate. I also think HIPPA privacy act has something to do with it the kinks. Cool work in progress!!
After reading most of the comments I come to the realization that the only way that this would be somewhat useful is to have two ili, one setup to go for example from English to whatever language and the other setup for the opposite. That way you could speak into one for whatever it is that you want to translate to and the other setup the other way around and just have the other person speak into the second one. If I would have known I would have purchase two rather than one. Well I guess that I am going to have to wait to try to figure out what would be the best option.
Lemuellee Quinones I don't think it supports reverse translation though, and that's actually the reason it works one way. It only translates from English to other languages, not vice versa.
This thing has potential. in future, try to connect to our brain. So when we speak internally, the output like we speak directly. Try that. I believe someday we achieve that.
great as someone was questioning on 2 way conversation u translate yours and when they speak u translate their voice as well as ili translate voice of anyone so use it
just buy two, and have one with you in that translates their language. english to spanish; then spanish to english. Simple solution to a complex problem. It's only $400.00. :-)
There doesn't appear to be foreign language to English translation available yet. Only English to foreign language. He said they took out the 2 way capability because the native speakers didn't understand that they had to use very short, simple sentences, and translation was taking a long time. That would still be a problem. I actually wouldn't care if it takes longer, I would still want two way translation.
آیا زبان زیبا وژرف پارسی هم دارا میباشد ؟ یا همان چند زبانه که درعکس هست واگر نه چرا ؟ و چرا ترجمه نوشتاری را هم ضمیمه نمیکنید که تکمیل باشد .هم نوشتاری وهم گویا .
this is amazing but one way does not help if you can't understand what the other person is telling you. Although you could try and keep you yes/no questions. The japanese people in the video answering the questions look like they are trying hard to base their answers on hand movements, universal signs of approval or english words. This is good but I really feel like the product would be more complete as a 2way translator
A little hard to set up due to the size of the touchscreen and lack of specific instructions th-cam.com/users/postUgkxNkNu8Sb6OAjgDHKMklYTaO-lJ4YPAIoS but when set up it is easy to use., I look forward to using it in travel when I am in a country where I am clueless in the language.
Those are probably some of the problems that they are trying to deal with.....and how many languages can it translate into. But it is truely a great idea.....with lots of potential.
So by making this a one-way device, a traveler can have their native language translated to that of the strange land, but the traveler cant understand any reactions since the device is one-way. The reasons given in the video to be one-way are weak and manageable to address.
I do understand the concept and even the one-way concept makes possibly sense in some situations. However, the limitation to typical "tourist conversation" is not appealing to me. Yoshida-san, there are 2.5 Million foreigners living in Japan and many of them daily struggle with Nihon-go. Like me, too ...! Consequently there is a huge target group beside tourists. However, then it needs to be much more flexible in terms of a wider range of topics.
At the moment a terrible invention that only has one function. It could be great. The points in this video were: No wifi needed, ok it doesn't need wifi but roaming is available everywhere pretty much and if you want to get away from the internet you probably wouldn't want to use an electronic device. Roaming these days is pretty much free in most countries. Design: at the moment its a 1 way speaking device so it doesn't matter where the mic is. You still need to pass it around like a phone to hear it. Two way: IT'S NOT TWO WAY and it only supports an English input! Why is Ili better than an app... at the moment I'd say its far worse than an app. Apps translate written content, they support TWO WAY conversations, you can type on them if it doesn't recognise your voice. Why would you want to pay $250 for a device you can ask a question on and not understand the answer... one use I would use a translator for is what is in that dish (at a restaurant), this will allow me to ask in either Spanish, Japanese or Chinese but I would have no idea what the answer is. With an app you could translate the menu from the image in real time or ask a waiter in their native language and translate the response in the app. Booking.com as a partner offers very little value for the tech functionality side which they are lacking in... google would be a far superior partner and they be able to make this device an invaluable asset for travel.
Ага, знает все языки - "конечно". А теперь посмотрим как нормальные люди описание на амазон: "ili в настоящее время переводит с английского на испанский, мандаринский и японский языки. " Ну это реально все языки.

This is an excellent first start! I can't wait to try it out! I would not want to go to Japan or China without one.

Good
thank you the real creator difference
So, I can ask a question, and not understand the answer. This won't help me.
If your level of understanding was low. Of course they will show you what you need.
I guess the idea is just to ask very basic questions that can be answered with a yes or no. Or just a one word answer.
or maybe you can hand them the translator to speak into?
Use IQ I already figured how to Translate the question.
Just give the translator to them
great
as someone was questioning on 2 way conversation
u translate yours
and when they speak u translate their voice as well as ili translate voice of anyone
so use it
Does the device have a 3mm socket to connect earbuds? It seems that would enhance the listening experience- especially in a noisy room.
I wish i could support this guy somehow.
U r a genius
Wow😎😎
I'd buy it if not for one fatal flaw: ili is a 1-way translator device... not a 2-way device.
