I had a chance to buy one of these when I was 21 or 22 I think.
A guy was selling it (he was a mechanic in a gas station), so I left him my wallet and took it for a test drive.
[A major highway was nearby, and I knew I was taking it there..]
4-speed , manual transmission, steel footpedals.
I took it up to 100 (mph) and I had the bright idea to punch the gas.
So, I punched it (pressed the gas pedal to the floor), and at "a 100," this thing TOOK OFF.!?!
The scariest feeling I've ever had.
I knew not to hit the brakes, so I just came off the gas completely and let it slow down.
My father would have luv'd that car.
I took it back to the gas station though (I think because I could only take $200 a day on my card).
I should have done two days or waited for the bank to open after the weekend and offer him 4 or 500 hundred (maybe 600 hundred) and brought that home.
