Engine power is expressed in in horsepower.
engine power can be categorised in three categories-
indicated horsepower,brake horsepower and fractional horsepower.
indicated horsepower is the power produced inside the engine cylinder.
brake horsepower is the power available at flywheel for useful work.
frictional horsepower is the power useful for overcome the friction losses.
friction losses are the loss of power to run the the parts like alternator,pump, radiator, cooling system etc.
mean effective pressure is the average pressure of engine cylinder, it is the average of maximum pressure and minimum pressure produced inside cylinder cylinder
specific fuel consumption is the quantity of the quantity of is the quantity of of fuel required to produce unit power.
