Good morning Phil, Happy New year!! Those days when Blockbuster, Hollywood video or even local home video stores were still in business were the greatest. I remember when the weekend came we would drive to the store Friday evening and the Places were packed with tons of people socializing, man such a great time. I do miss all those days. Our blockbuster finally went out of business back in 2004 if I remember correctly. A buddy and I would go and buy discounted games they were liquidating. Will never be same, such a great time to be a part of. Thanks for sharing Phil👊🏼
Good morning Julio, anything Blockbuster I see I usually pickup it’s such an important part of our youth. Gosh I miss rentals, Thanks for sharing my friend 👊
Family Video got love in the stranger things series. The one in my town was converted into a Wild Bills tobacco shop and an armed service recruitment center. They tore down a pizza hut close to it and its being rebuilt as a bank.
I remember renting an apartment 20+ years ago across the street from a new Family Video location... Man I hated that "beacon" light they had out front of the store. It shined right into every crack between my blinds... Reminded me of the Seinfeld episode when Kramer and Jerry switch ap[artments...
Crazy.. I went to the Family Video in West Allis just a few years ago; picked up a movie for nostalgia's sake and got some Marco's. How surreal that they're all closed now. I really wish our society would support physical media again and rental stores. Streaming is convenient and fine, but purists would say that physical media is always a better experience than streaming (audio and video quality). I miss the Family Videos and Blockbusters and the experience that goes with it. We'll never experience that again. Sad! Looks cold in your neck of the woods, Phil!
Talking of New Year’s resolutions - I’ve got 2, but can’t share will try to do it on my own for a few weeks. back to work today Phil. currently playing Indy jones and the circle on Xbox it’s good.. surprisingly v good after a few levels. Couldn’t play a second time though. My two pence
I had to return to work too lol it was tough today Mark, I’m hearing a lot of good things about Indy. What ever our resolutions are take it slow don’t put all of your eggs in a basket :) I’ve already overdid it myself lol
I know there was one in West Allis on 76th street on Greenfield but its a dollar tree now and there was a family video in bayview but i haven't drove past to see what the family video in bayview is now
I live in areas where there is still 3 family video stores that have barely been changed. They all have been turned into a new store but they seem to almost all still have all the family video branding on them. I miss family video for sure.
@PDX7 no the stores that bought the spaces just kept the family video branding all over the stores but are now other shops. Like one is a lingerie shop of all places.
We didn’t have Family Video but we had similar called Video Warehouse that was the hub of excitement and the place to see and be seen renting movies or video games on a Friday or Saturday! The social component is now digital and not the same as seeing and talking to your friends and/or neighbors. Thanks for a fun trip down memory lane PD7 👊🏻🕹️😎📼📀📺👾
I never had a Block Buster or larger franchised store where I originally lived. There was only a place called TJ Video. Let me tell you, that place was sketchy. I am sure they were doing more than renting movies. 😂 Happy New Year, buddy.
Yeah my old family video is a Marcos pizza too. Must be the same owners. I remember that family video was originally a Mobil gas station when I was a kid. Yeah I worked for Blockbuster video when I was a teenager and Family Video was pretty big for being independent stores. That was are direct competition. They lasted a lot longer than Blockbuster.
SHAQ!! The family video sign would look good in Lucky's gym, you know you want it!!!! Too bad they had to shutter their doors...a little time travel would be nice
I had the premium selected, maybe that’s why it seemed high. I couldn’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve bought regular. Did you get a chance to stop at Blockbuster before they closed?
PD7 I think that one day the video stores will make a comeback just like the Records did and going to the video stores was a lot of fun and Redbox and Netflix killed that by putting the video stores out of business
So we just gone ignore the fact that Philip"s crazy ass just hung out in an empty blockbuster for twenty minutes that's possibly inhabited by a transient? 😅... Stay safe my brother.
PD7 I have a peice of history do you remember the pacman the donkey Kong the Defender the frogger the berserk video game songs that came out on record in 1980 well I have a CD with those songs on it it's called Pac Man fever Buckner and Garcia music CD
these are the glory days, Phil. these are the glory days. 👍
They sure were :) man we had the best stuff John 👊

Happy New Year Carl & Angel! Those were the glory days :)
Thanks for that Family Video tour. Those were the good old days with DVD and VHS rental stores.
Thanks for coming along with me 👊
Family Video takes me back. I rented from Blockbuster as well but remember picking up my Nintendo GBA from Family Video.
What a cool memory:)
Happy new year Phil! Can we get some PD7 merch in 2025?! 😁
Happy New Year E-Leo 🐢 maybe I’ll come up with some designs :)

I just realized it was in Stranger Things I must have missed it when I watched. Pizza Hut is another bummer, was planning on stopping at a few.
Happy new year from France !
Happy New Year from Wisconsin:) Thanks for watching!
Looks like the arch shaped building was a Kohl's food store prior to being a Family Video?
Yes, good call I forgot about the Kohl’s food stores :)
Yes, Those old Kohl’s food store buildings are all over the area yet.
Wehad the same combo here until our Family video closed but the Marco's Pizza stayed here for a while before moving.
I’ve never tried Marcos Pizza, think I better just incase they move out too.
I miss going into my local Blockbuster... wish i could go back to the early 90s
Imagine if we had 2 hours in the 90’s what we could see :)
I wouldn't want to come back haha
🤔good show👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for coming along with me Seeker of Arcades!
Happy New Year Phil!
Happy New Year Neil!

It was freezing yesterday Scott lol I have to dress a little better next time :) Where was Family Video close to in West Allis?
@ it’s off of National Ave. I just looked it up and looks like it’s a Dollar General now but the Marco’s is still there.
Darn it I was at Cleveland Ave I should have went down one more block :) Thanks for letting me know
@ yeah, you were close! Haha
I couldn’t pin point where it used to be, should’ve searched Marcos :)
I bought so many used blu rays from Family video. That was my spot!
I hope we get something like this again someday 👊
We lost our last local one in 2019. I got so many 3d blurays cheap when they went out of business. It was bittersweet thou cause they are gone now.
Do any of yours have the Family Video logo on them?
@ no ours was called super duper video.
Gosh there were so many rentals back in the day
The Family Video that was located here in Murfreesboro, TN, closed about 2-3 yrs ago.
That’s a bummer we no longer have any open anymore, Thanks for the update!
I miss family video went there every friday night to rent a movie on dvd.
Happy new year 🎉
Happy New Year Ben 👊 Thanks for coming along my friend :)
History has it at those video stores are a awesome peice of history and enjoyment
It’s like a museum:)

Hey Surge, I remember the one on 76th now for some reason I thought it was on Hwy 100.
@PDX7 yeah that Family Video just recently closed... probably like 2-3 years ago
I wish I would have spent some time there to appreciate it more
you travel all over wisconsin! i'm sure a few homeless ppl go into that family video at night, shocked that doors open still.
Oh my gosh I was waiting for someone to enter, honestly it was cozy inside :)
I live in areas where there is still 3 family video stores that have barely been changed. They all have been turned into a new store but they seem to almost all still have all the family video branding on them. I miss family video for sure.
Can you still rent from them?
@PDX7 no the stores that bought the spaces just kept the family video branding all over the stores but are now other shops. Like one is a lingerie shop of all places.
I got my hopes up for a second :)
For those of you not from Wisconsin, a bubbler is a drinking fountain everywhere else. 5:18
😂😂😂
lol 😂

All i see is that Hardees behind you Phil, it sounds so good right now! :)
lol it if I wasn’t going out to dinner with Kellie I totally would’ve got a Frisco burger 🍔
They should open an arcade where the Family Video was.
Could you imagine what they could fit in there :)
Good morning From New England area Massachusetts so family video here but bought few DVD from their site
Good morning Luigi, how long ago did you pick them up?
Around 2013 to 2019
Can you believe how fast the time has gone by since?
@@PDX7 yes

Did you ever get to take any cardboard promos / advertisements home?
@@PDX7 no all that stuff usually went in the dumpster. No one back then thought that stuff was gonna be worth anything.
Once I got the Michael Keaton Batman from the waist up when they were ready to toss
Im in Michigan family video near me still sitting there empty building since its closure.
Man I wish they were still open, Thanks for sharing 👊
I liked going in there buying the used Blu Rays for cheap! they started my digital collection they sold digital movie codes for $5
Did any of the used copies have Family Video logos?
@@PDX7 Yeah there’s a tiny sticker around the hole, has the logo and a barcode..
That’s really cool, Thanks for letting me know 👊
That's TheCornerCade's bag at 5:05. His wife finally got tired of his nonsense and kicked him out. Let's Goooooo.
lol 😂 might have been filled with Myarcades :)
My wife would never kick me out lol she enjoys the hobby more than I do..

@ that’s all the time we need!
Agreed :)
Woa why is gas so expensive there still dang
