El Lado Cansado he's my cousin, I've met him abt 5 times coz he's been so busy with his career, I miss talking to him, our whole family is very musical and I am 11 and have a few songs out already!
he is so incredible. you have no idea. the way he has got to keep thinking about what is coming because its not written in 4 is fascinating. I even put a metronome with it to try and hear the beat but i couldn't.
Great ideas. The rhythm isn't displaced as such. It's just a very syncopated drum beat that's played straight WHILE the guitar actually plays a swung rhythm. Very well executed. Lovely song.
The drums are 4 in syncopated triplets over Jono's 3. The guitar changes slightly with the band to accommodate the groove a bit more. It moves around a bit in this but that's what's going on.
Shouldn't this be how it is? The drums can still be heard in 6. The guitar and bass are playing in a swung feel while the drummer is keeping a straight, but heavily syncopated groove.
I love his voice!! but does anyone understand what's happening with the time signature it feels like an odd 3. I spose loads of people have asked this question haha! :) xx
Its in 4/4 guys, nothing ridiculous. The only thing that makes it interesting is that the vocals don't begin on the downbeat. But everything else is pretty normal. Even the guitar riff, its just that its an extended 2 bar phrase instead of a typical 1 bar loop that starts on the downbeat
For me, the problem isn't the band, but the way it was mastered. Why is the bass so overwhelmingly loud? It makes the beautiful acoustic guitar very hard to hear. Otherwise, this is quite a fun arrangement.
I still cannot process how something so brilliant didn't blow up. Years go by, yet this song still hits right in the soul, just like the first time.
Jono you make me cry, you are to much of a musician man.

Go to Amazon.com, search on "focusrite scarlett 2i2". Watch the embedded video. Enjoy.
It's a classic guitar pro ;)
I just wrote out the drum part as 6/4, however after each of the breaks he plays a measure of 4/4

I love this song but whitout the band, I count a 3/4 beat. Whit it it's kinda uncountable ;)... strange
it feels like that because you don't get it. it's OK though, alot of us do get it. just to let you know, it's awesome
I love the song .... but the band was NOT needed... jussayin... it should just been him and the guitar!!!
Sweetwater lol. Wtf is the drummer doing though? Really? Lmao
Drumming.
