After registering to 'try' ffxiv months ago, I've started to truly love this game. The friends I've made, the adventurers that helped me out in a pinch, the random strangers that told me a joke or traded me joke item just for laughs. I've fought, I've fished, Ive styled my outfit, seen weddings, spent hours at the gold saucer and played triple triad against random travelers while we waited for our queue to pop and I even felt like I was in a totally different game at certain times. The community is in this game is awesome. But what I love the most... Is that there are creators out there that make videos articulating the emotions I've experienced along the way. With editing as impressive as a black mages' Flare star and an amount of wit a kin to a wandering minstrel. Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece. You have single handedly restored my faith in the algorithm.
It was. Then Shadowbringers launched. 3.x was peak FFXIV. If you didn't play back then, you have no idea what you missed out on. Jobs were actually unique and rewarding to master and the content was hard and there were a lot of clutch moments you were able to overcome through clever improvisation and application of job synergies and your own abilities. Storrmblood made the game really easy but Mana Shift was one of the coolest abilities they added to the game. As a healer, I would delegate 1/5 of my mana to a BLM to give them an extra Fire IV during their burst. Sucks they took that out. Between HW and Stormblood, there were many interactions between each different job and the content. Now everything boils down to stand and let thing resolve while you DPS the fancy dummy. I miss having to actually think. Once you know a fight, that's pretty much it. There's no fun in not doing it blind and nobody wants to do anything blind anymore. They just wanna clear and move along.
This is a very wonderful love letter to FFXIV! With some top tier editing to boot! This game has become so near and dear to my heart. I started playing around 3 years ago as well and it's sure been a crazy ride. I'm currently F2P since I can't afford my subscription anymore, but going back through FFXIV has been so fun. Just beat ARR and am on the Leviathan fight and I cannot wait to get to Heavensward again. :)
I hope you’re able to resub soon! But yea, it’s great that the free trial is so expansive. I spent so much time going through ARR-SB, and I was just doing the MSQ. Lots of other content to enjoy in those expansions
37:46 that whole section of the party waiting for the cutscene watcher absolutely sent me, brilliant editing. 😂 The entire video was a pleasure to watch, great work right there.
Thank you! I'm more concerned in making sure that the people who do see the video enjoy it, as opposed to worrying about the people who haven't seen it.
The first Pompadour Roegadyn I met was during Aurum Vale. They would do nothing but go around eating all the fruit making me suffer as a healer. Was fun tho lol
your storytelling is hilarious! no my sweet summer child haha xD, your editing is a joy to watch, really great storyteller i watched the entire video, loved it !
Actually a Beautiful take on what makes XIV so special. That a community such as this exists, and one where embracing an independent journey is celebrated, together
loved the video really well put together. 14 has and always will be very special to me I just wish I was a little more social, myself as a solo player hunting for achievements since Beta for ARR it does get quite lonely, but I recognize that is more of a me problem than the game. One day I may get the courage to be more social and watching this video of your experience with the game kind of gave me the courage take a leap and comment. :D
Thanks for the kind words! The fact that you realize there's something you want to change or try differently is half the battle. You realized it, now you just gotta take the plunge to actualize it :D. I KNOW there's a community of achievement hunters out there, but you gotta put in the effort to seek them out!
I remember finding the ff14 free trail back when it was on PS3 I got hooked it was the best game I ever played sadly once the free trail ended I couldn't play for a long while since I didn't have a job but when I got one I was able to get a sub and play the amazing mmo that's ff14 I've experienced it all from arr to heavensward from shadowbringers to dawn trail if there's one down side don't really have friends I'm a lone wolf just dungeon running doing some extremes and sometimes very rarely go to someone's hosted club or bar
this is such a heartwarming video, I could see you put lots of love into this one honestly it's bring me such nostalgic back then i love to hang around XIV as much as I can, younger me would do yellow quest since most of them interesting and im having fun with it Anyway Love your video, Subs you. looking forward your next adventure ╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯
I definitely want to go do some yellow quests at some point, because I know there’s some hidden gems! The next adventure is completing DT MSQ, then maybe fishing :D
FFXIV is my all-time favorite game. Are there things that could be improved on? Yes. That doesn't change the fact I've had so much fun playing the game with amazing people. I take breaks and come back everytime.
Agreed! I think finding a healthy balance with any game/hobby is very important. I continue to have so much fun with this game, but also recognize there are definitely things that can be improved on as well
Dude looked like he was wrapping the video up and turns out he was only 1/3 in. The pompadour is a king crown. Also, for the record? You've done plenty in 3 years. That is a lot of content for a single character.
Haha I hope you enjoyed the other 2/3rds! I've seen a lot of discourse about lack of content in the game. I think that's part of the reason why I've tackled everything in a leisurely way, it's so I still have something to look forward to.
So I very much disagree with you saying you seemingly accomplished so little after you spent 3 years playing and making all those memories. You spent minutes listing many things you did do and accomplish. So no, you seemed to have done a lot and I am glad to hear about it. Your story was touching and told in a great and funny manner.
It took 5 years of telling my girlfriend about the critically acclaimed mmorpg ffxiv with an expanded free trial, which you can play through the entirety of a realm reborn, the award-winning heavensward, and its second major expansion stormblood. Play up to level 70 with no restriction on playtime.

I have to be honest now, having played FFXIV since release on and off... the story is just... pretentious. It takes a lot of words to get across even the simplest concepts through constant cutscenes that would make Metal Gear Solid 4 blush. I think people are actually starting to see the cracks in FFXIV that I have seen for years (yes, even with the "beloved" shadowbringers). FFXIV is just not capable of doing NEW things... they rely constantly on referencing older (and better imo) games in the series, the whole FFXIV story up to Endwalker was essentially a more plodding and pedantic version of FFIX's story about the value of life. As a fan of series from 1 - 10, these constant references come across more as annoying fanservice then actually telling a coherent story. I mean, they do TRY to add new elements but it just gets lost in a sea of forgettable callbacks to other games. Don't even get me started with the whole "Ancient Anime Waifu gets emo and destroys the universe"... I think my eyes couldn't roll back any further. Dawntrail has proven that they have no idea what they were doing with the game. I think they should knock it on it's head and go back to doing quality entries in the series like 7, 8, 9 and 10 were because every game since FF10 has been a mess in one way or another. FFXIV will forever be an example of how to make people emotion while giving them a straight up inferior product.
@@KevWasHereYo I did used to enjoy this game because I was a fan of the series and have been since I was a kid. The problem with FFXIV I find, is that it's constantly re-treading ground which was much better explored by the original FF games. Let's just take an example, the rise and fall of the Garlean Empire is just the same story from Final Fantasy VI, just without the quality villain Kefka, that makes the original story work much better. I just do not feel the developers are capable of doing original content without referencing the older games in the franchise. Its not a slight on the game's presentation or quality... its a criticism that the game relies too much on nostalgia baiting rather then actual cohesive story-telling.

I too have played XIV for 3 years. I am in HW with 135 days of playtime. I hope this information has caused you mental anguish.

3 yrs turns into 5 yrs then 8 then 9 yrs of playing FFXIV if you let it. How time flies. I quit at the 9 yr mark out of boredom.
