    I appreciate you podcast so much. You make not only knitting reachable, doable and bring ease to the experience of making but you do the same thing with your thoughtful motherhood shares. You have become part of my Saturday routine and I always leave feeling seen as a mom and maker. Thank you🎉

      Thank you so much for watching!! I never know if it's a total waste of time to share the boring stuff, but that's life sometimes. Thanks for hanging out here with me!

    I’ve been 6 weeks no knitting due to tendinitis. No knitting is misery. Take care and keep resting your hands and arms. Love your videos 🧶

      oooof - I so feel for you! (but it's so necessary to rest.) hope you're feeling better soon - I'm working hard (or ... not working hard) not to overdo it!

    Thank you for your podcast. It's so fresh and fun! I appreciate your comments about having to take breaks from knitting to heal. I have had to do the same thing many times. I'm very obsessed with the yellow fireplace in your background. So FUN!

      Thanks so much - I knew others would be able to relate! It's hard to stop knitting, even when we know we should. (And thanks - the yellow fireplace is a Preway from the 70s and we love it! Lucky Craigslist score from a few years ago.)

    Thanks for the video! I have the same problem with my wrists and have learned the hard way that stopping immediately once pain or tingling starts avoids long periods of no knitting. I love knitting blankets but they do tend to cause repetitive stress issues. Still, that blanket is beautiful!

    • @JenGeigleyKnits
      @JenGeigleyKnits  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      SO true - that first bit of pain/tingle is a warning sign! I'm still doing a bit of resting, and as hard as it is I know it's the right thing to do. I knew lots of us could probably relate! And yes, a row here and there on a blanket it totally enough. I've gotta remember that!

    Thanks so much for making this video even when you're so busy with end of school things! We are in school for one more month here. I hope your wrists recover well. I have started to have pain sometimes too and it's so important to take a break and relax. As my Arne&Carlos shirt says, "Relax! It's only knitting". So fun to see your projects in the works and finished and your new collaboration with Knit Collage!!

      Aww, thanks so much for hanging out with me here! We are *kind* of in school for one more month ... Bowie has summer school, but just in the mornings through the end of June. Which he kind of hates, but it's a good thing for him. Taking knitting breaks is SO hard but we all know it's the right thing to do ... sorry you deal with this too! (But I knew lots of us could probably relate.) LOVE that A&C quote - relax!!! It's supposed to be fun anyway and it's never a race. Thanks for your sweet comments, always!

    Stopping your activity once you feel pain is absolutely the right thing to do. My husband wishes I would follow this advice. Was just in the emergency room two weeks ago with pain in my left thumb and wrist. Diagnosis: too much physical stress on my hand. I was fitted with a splint and was told it will take 4-6 weeks to get better. Ugh!!!! Take care of your hand.

    So glad you took the time for a video. It' always like a shot of adrenaline for my knitting mojo. So sorry about your wrist pain. It is a big deal to have to stop knitting and take a break. Hope you are healing now. Love that pollen color in the Brooklyn Tweed. I looked at their clearance and foolishly decided to stop because I didn't 'need' more yarn. What kind of stupid thinking is that? Take care.

    Hi Jen: Always love your shares!! I am curious f Bowie has been in a small class, or integrated class? I would love to know your thoughts on special education for autistic students and how you navigated that world. Thanks again- would appreciate your wisdom in that area - of course understanding that each person is different!

    • @JenGeigleyKnits
      @JenGeigleyKnits  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi - he has been in mainstream classes all through elementary, and gets pulled out for help with certain subjects. (This has worked well for us so far!) We evaluate things every year to see how he's doing and to check and see if we need to make adjustments. Junior high will be a bit different, but I think he's ready to change things up!

    Hi Jen… wow I don’t usually comment so regularly with anyone else but for some reason I seem to have something to say every week. Today I would like to chat about the term, “special needs.” I know I’ve chatted a lot about my son but have I mentioned to you yet that I am a person with a disability also? I have cerebral palsy and use a power wheelchair full time, so I’ve been disabled all my life. I don’t love the term “special needs.” For one thing, it’s a term invented by nondisabled people, especially in the education arena. But here’s another perspective. Our needs are not “special.” They are just “our needs.” And you know what else? In terms of education, they are also our RIGHTS. Bowie has a RIGHT to have access to education and a RKGHT to accommodations that make it possible for him to succeed. Don’’t ever let anyone diminish his rights by making them”special.” He is a person with a disability, a kid with autism, who is entitled to full enjoyment and participation. Just my thoughts, Love, From a Recovering Special Needs Kid.

      Ahhhhh - thank you for this!! So much! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment *and* share your personal experience with this. I am definitely still learning (and re-learning) language in regards to disabilities and what I said is outdated, inaccurate and I definitely picked it up somewhere during our education journey. Making a mental note, maybe a mantra … not special, just needs. And rights!! Thank you so, so much. You explain it so perfectly. ♥️ Also, words really matter and I sincerely apologize if what I said was triggering/hurtful to you. I will do better moving forward.

      @@wheeltrishand yes - your mini skeins would be perfect for this blanket (someday, because you probably don’t need more blanket wips right now. ha! I shouldn’t be starting this now either.) I’m good at starting socks and not finishing too, but they’re so fun and portable in the summer. And I can make a smaller size hat but the next size down is a child size, so we’ll see! It *is* kind of big …
