Fab update Paul. Each time you visit Clowne Station is looking better & better. The platform looks really good, nice bricklaying there! Big thank you to all the volunteers & to you for the updates. 😊👍
Quite an interesting disused railway. The restored booking hall displays a surreal aspect with a strange truncated section of platform and a tunnel going nowhere! Thanks for uploading.
It's really good to see what has been done with Clowne station. Those touches like the sections of rail, the engine silhouette and a piece of platform make such a difference. Would be great if the locally community can make use of the space for the occasional meet up or small event when it's all done and the weather is fine. Thanks for the update.
A nice view of the Clowne Railway Station after a few months. The platform looks nice. Hopefully if I survive its completion, it would be grand. Thank you for the walking tour this day. See you on the next. Cheers Paul! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Remember crossing over the Boughton Lane bridge when I was little in the early 80s and looking down onto that cutting and seeing the trains go past, back then it was a metal trellis type fence on the path at the side of the road over the bridge so visibility of the cutting was really good even for a little lad like I was at the time. Looked really impressive especially with cutting really clear of vegetation. Still want to try and walk on that embankment from the greenway towards Boughton Lane if possible... Think this time of year would be best before the nettles start thriving.
Thinking afterwards not sure if it was trellis type wire fencing (diagonal) or just standed squares probably the later but I remember I could look though it and see the cutting below. Shame you can't download your memories to your phone. Things get distorted over time.
Hello again Paul, It's nice to see how the old Clowne Railway Station project is going, the lads are doing a great job. I've been popping down from time to time to see how it's all going, and taking photos of there progress, so it looks like I'll have to take a bus ride up there again soon for some more updated photos. It'll look wonderful once it's all done. On another note, are the members of the public (ie myself) allowed to be taken into the tunnel, or is it just the volunteers at the moment.? And on yet another note, I'm glad you explained about the two old bridge supports on the Clowne Greenway, I did often wonder where they went too? Last question, sorry it seems I'm firing loads of questions to you in this message 😂 sorry 😂 but do you ever think that one day, they'll be able to join up the Clowne Greenway to the old railway line that ends at Staveley and goes all the way to Arkwright, or are these two separate old railway lines? It would also be nice to see the old colliery railway line from Bolsover to Staveley being used as a Greenway soon, instead of being all overgrown. 😢 And one last thing, do you remember some years ago, I read in a railway magazine, that network rail were thinking of joining Clowne railway station with the Robin Hood Line? But sadly it never happened. Anyway sorry for the long message, hope you've not fallen asleep and got this far? Lol (that's autism for you sadly I can't shut up talking some days) lol 😆 Anyway keep up the good work Paul, all the best from. Mike Wood.
Thanks Mike. Ask away :) The local history society are usually happy to chat and let you have a look around if they are there on your visit. It's usually locked up to protect it and prevent it from becoming a hide out for the local youths...as you probably find on your visits. That line from Staveley to Arkwright is the Great Centreal Mainline, so is a different line, but it did intersect at Staveley. The greenway gets a bit awkward before hitting staveley and it's a bit of a detour to get to the other line. That Bolsover to Staveley line. I'm not sure what went wrong there. There were rumours about a greenway, but nothing has happened. It seems to be getting some development and industrial land built on it now sadly. I keep meaning to go and take the drone up to get an update there. It's a shame that Clowne couldn't be connected to the RHL. Would have been nice to see Clowne back on the railway network. I suppose however, it would depend on where people were wanting to travel to. With trains only going to mansfield or worksop. Or even nottingham further affield. However I'm guessing the majority would want to be going to Chesterfield or Sheffield? I know from personal experience using the RHL, the connections are that great at Worksop.
Nice... Glad you went the other way Paul... Great shots of the Pass and present . Am going to visit there myself when time...Any plans to go further south this year ?
Another great update on the Clowne disused station restoration, Paul. We are looking forward to future updates on the project... Cheers James 🙂👍
Cheers James 👍

Thank you. Aawww 'Leg Breaker' on his leash harness.

Got some plans around Loughborough soon. And been filming south of Nottingham this week. I suppose that's technically south 😄
