  • In this video, we will be taking a look at the ongoing construction of the Lagos - Calabar Coastal highway which will run from Ahmadu Bello way in Victoria Island Lagos all the way to Calabar in cross-rivers state. The 700km highway way will connect different states across the coastal areas of the country from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Cross rivers with two spurs. The first spur connecting Badagry to Sokoto while the second spur will connect Enugu to Abakaliki to Ogoja then to the border of Cameroon.
The project will be constructed in different phases and sections, presently Phase 1 section 1 is under construction which runs from the junction of Ahmadu Bello way with Adetokunbo Ademola in Victoria Island to Lekki Deep Sea port in Lagos which is 47.47kms.
There have been series of controversies on the project particularly about demolition of buildings and properties that will be carried out. As a result of this, I will be showing the structures and properties demolished at the oniru beach, landmark beach and other beaches that falls on the road alignment. Though the federal government has compensated some properties owners whose property had been demolished while others are awaiting compensation.
Also I will be showing the part of the beach that’s remaining as sand filling is ongoing on some part of the beach which is part of the eko Atlantic Phase 2 project.

The land documents of Landmark showed that Landmark did not buy the beach front. He only sublets the beach front to others illegally. As it stands Landmark is not losing any property. Only those to whom he sublet the beachfront lost their investments, although the government is merciful enough to pay them compensation.

Stop speaking like a baby. This coaster high way from the way they are going about it will not see the light of the day. How can you start a project of this size from Lagos going to Calabar? If government is serious and sincere they will start construction simultaneously from different sections in different states and not start the project from Lagos going to Calabar. You have been deceived😂😂😂😂

@@jenkinsokeremute2403What you say doesn’t make much sense. It’s going to take 8 yrs, they predict. Do you think all the money is sitting somewhere in one place, TODAY? If not, how does it make sense to start in multiple sights at the same time with limited funds? Who does that? Does it not make sense to build section by section or phase by phase? Think about it well, then you can choose to answer. But I strongly suspect that you won’t. Nobody wants to embarrass himself. 😂

@@fabuchap2545 you just embarrassed yourself big time from your reply. You just admit Nigeria doesn't have the necessary fund and resources to execute this size of project yet you're in support of your visionless leaders to use our hard earn critical available fund to start build a road. At this time of hardship in the country,a road construction of this size should have been the least in our priority of things to be done. Let me remind you a road project is never a fast stimulus drive in terms of economic development,it is a very slow stimulus drive when it comes to economic development. Go and ask countries like China, UAE and others well developed with infrastructure, when it is best time to start a gigantic mega project like this Lagos Calabar coaster road? It is wisely done during the time of the nation's economy boom. Not when there is hunger, hardship and austerity in the country like the present situation now. We all love a coaster road project like this, but the time is not right. It is not our priority right now. Our refineries are not working, industries are parking out of the country, agriculture is zero, health, education is nowhere, yet the government decided to start a project they know they can finish. It is shame many myopic Nigerians can't see far.

A road construction project has never been a fast stimulus drive to economic recovery,it is always a slow stimulus drive to economic recovery. That is why nation with well developed infrastructure are strategic planning and managing their resources doing the right thing at the right time. Wasted money, who will be using this road, will eventually become redundant once seaports in the east start functioning properly..The nigerian national highways should all be repaired and brought to standard before this white elephant. The money being wasted here should have been used to resuscitate Ajaokuta steel industry , that will give permanent employment and economic benefit to the nation.
Besides the procurement process did not go through the required constitutional due process hence runs a risk of being suspended by the court.
