The only thing Duolingo lacks is better voice translations and a way to interact over speech to practice your listening and speaking skills so i think chatgpt new voice feature only helps.
Being able to translate texts is a part of language learning. You do need reading comprehension and writing skills, unaided ,to demonstrate your proficiency, e.g. when you have to pass the proficiency tests .
Actually, I usually use Immersive Translate to help me learn a new language. Because when I encounter unfamilar words, it can look up their meanings for me
Since the change to the useless path Duolingo is complete garbage. Since then not a single person learnt a language with this useless app. Here is my experience with the English -> Spanish and English -> French Course: - horrible sounding AI voices in the lessons, it barely resembles real French/Spanish - too many garbage AI sentences, no native speaker would every say or use such sentences - hundreds of repetitions of the same boring content - full of predatory micro-transactions - still errors in many sentences - forcing to waste typing long sentences - demotivating heart system - path course is too long and demotivating All my friends quit Duolingo and use other methods of language learning.

Duolingo lacks a complete overhaul, because the entire app is garbage.
@@paralytaatylarap9715Oh come on now it's not that bad, to learn the basics in terms of reading and writing it's pretty good.
