    The game shows from the 70s and 80s were the best from set design to the contestant interaction with the host. Some of today's game shows are trying to bring back the classics, and while they do well it's not quite the same.

    * The clips of Barker's "Nighttime Price Is Right" are from various other places (and on TH-cam). I'm guessing WOR wasn't airing the Kennedy version.
    * :45/2:00/4:03/5:21 -- is that the "$1MCOAL" pilot?
    * 9:02 -- six weeks ago, Nipsey began hosting Your Number's Up...and about a month after this broadcast, NBC canned it.
    * 10:02-12 -- well said, Mr. Goodson.
    Thanks for sharing this -- it's always fun to see what you pull out. :)

    That was one of the most productive times for game shows!

    6:35 - Odd thing to point out, but that "9" logo on the microphone is FAR different than the one WOR-TV used. I'm guessing the reporter borrowed it from (then) sister station KHJ-TV (Now KCAL).

    Pat Finn was a weatherman before being a game show host. And Bob Goen was a sportscaster.

    BTW, on the right, there's Roland Smith, the anchorman from WOR-TV who did his "Fighting the Frizzies at Eleven" speech.

    Actually at the time there were shows taped outside of L.A. "Chain Reaction" and "Jackpot!" on the U.S.A. Network (ironically both taped in Canada), and "Fandango" on the old Nashville Network (taped in Nashville, where else).

    3:21 The contestant's name is Elliott (as shown of the WOF clips). Channel 9 spells it ELLOIT. Send that editor a whammy!

    Could the clips from The $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime be run throughs or from the pilot? This story on game shows was aired two months before the show premiered.

    No, that's Tom Dunn. Roland Smith didn't join until 1988

    I agree with what they said at the end, that Lloyd Lindsay Young would've made a good game show host. Just imagine, after Gene Wood, Rod Roddy, Charlie O'Donnell, or whoever introduced him, he'd come out saying "HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO CONTESTANTS!"

    TH-cam did not exist yet when this was originally aired...nor did the Internet, for that matter. Kennedy's Price aired on WNBC.

    5 Million people watch Wheel every night? Try adding about 38 million to that number. (Or maybe he meant 5 Million watch the DAYTIME show every day.)

    Good for Pat but I can't drive so I would need a cheUffeaur if I become a successful game show host.

    And KNBC in Los Angeles. Really seemed to favor NBC affiliates.
    And the 85-86 Syndicated $ale of the Century seemed to favor ABC affiliates. But unlike Kennedy TPIR, Syndie $ale never aired here in L.A.
