Looked at your video and decided to try it. Didn't hold on to it for even 5 minutes because it lacks the simple function of collapsing emails - by sender, etc. What a laugh! Back to my happy older version for now

the fact that you can't copy attachments from one email to another ( instead you need to save it in your computer) is the biggest drawback

You can copy them as by default the attachments are saved into EmailAttachments in your OneDrive automatically, and when you try to send another email, it will suggest the latest attachments for you

I believe the new version is a complete dumbing down of what is a swiss army knife of an email client. No In-cell editing, no custom fields and not way to use visual basic on complex tasks. I like the new features, but Delay Send is already a feature.

The first thing I criticize in the new outlook is the fact that I can't tell what I'm running. Am I running the web version? Am I running the desktop version and the reason why that's important is if you're trying to do helpdesk with somebody you have to go through a bunch of aggravation to try to figure out what they're actually using. Why didn't they just name it outlook desktop, also the second thing I noticed was that your PST's also vanished. for some of us that's a relatively important historical artifact when you're talking about decades perhaps of emails being unable to be accessed. While I certainly look forward to a more robust and less crashing product, I think this is way too early in the launch to recommend this product to any of my clients, there seems to be a lot of work to be done. I rate this product three stars out of five at this point and I think I'm being generous.

The worst thing is that the calendar doesn't have the address book feature. It has an "add from directory" option, but that doesn't include all of the contacts. I liked it when you could open up your address book to find the calendar you were trying to add.

Thank you for your video. I tried a demo version of the new outlook a while ago now but was put off by the absence of the quick access toolbar. i use categories extensively and often need to assign a few categories to an email simultaneously. Therefore i have a button "All Categories" on my quick access toolbar to help me do it quickly. Also I've got the button "Collapse All Groups" which i find very useful. Have Microsoft made quick access toolbar available in the "New" New Outlook?

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, the new Outlook is of no use for those who have to actually work with Outlook. The tasks functionalities (to do) are minimal compared to the original outlook tasks. Also, it mixes up the old folders with the categories, which creates a big chaos. Most of the new features are just play stuff.

@Jonathan Edwards - The new Outlook features are very helpful, lots to learn, however, the search function is missing. In the old version, I could sort by name and press "m" for example and it would take me to the names beginning with M. In this version you have to be specific in your search for it to work. This also applies to sorting by subject, it did not work, unless you have a tutorial on this to share

    • @blackchipblue
      @blackchipblue 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

No, by switching the toggle you are simply switching to 365 version windowed on your desktop. It will store the request in the cloud and send when told to. The old version has this in the Delivery Option when you create the email. You select the time and date, but the desktop needs to be on that day. If you work off a server that isn't a problem.

I like a lot of the new features in the new Microsoft, but it's still missing some important things for me. The most notable thing that I can't live without is a persistent notification that I have a new email. The old Outlook left an icon in the task tray so that I could come back to my desk after walking away for a bit and see that I have new email without having to open Outlook specifically to look at it. Now though you can't tell that there's a new email unless you open Outlook to see.

      Hi Bret
15 years ago, our management organized a work-life balance workshop. The objective was to identify how to reduce stress and give more "life" to people when they are at work. One of the key point I'm still using today is "get rid of the notifications".
Being notified of a new email takes you out of the current task you are doing. The suggested way of working was to remove any outlook notifications (even keep outlook closed if you will) and just scan your inbox from time to time, when more important tasks are completed.
Humans are not so good at multitasking.
(This WoW supposes that mail is used to send information and request, not as real-time chat system, as it often happens)

Great video and you have explained the new features very well. I have to say that for me, and my use, it brings nothing of benefit. What would have been a major addition would have finally got the web app and 365 to work together. Such an obvious feature but Microsoft still seems to believe that having two versions that don't talk to each other is the way to go.

    Hi
I do not work (retired), the main feature I use in Classic outlook is the Calendar for all my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly appointments (I cannot function without my calendar - So teams, emails etc. are not important. But I use emails sometimes as well as Gmail.
I did switch to the new outlook, but I did not like it - so many features of the calendar are missing. I switched back to the classic outlook.
My question is when I am forced to use the new outlook, are all my appointments / reminders will transfer over, also the customized quick access bar exists??
Currently my outlook (MS office 365) is linked to iCloud for windows, So I have access to my calendar on my iPhone, my laptop and Desktop which helps me to add or update any appointment in any of the 3 that I use at home or if I am out and add new appointment on my iPhone - would this feature will exist ?

In older iterations of the schedule send feature, the computer had to be up and running and Outlook had to be open and connected for it to work, essentially making it a client-side feature. Is this the case with the new one? Or did they make it server-side so that I can be doing emails, schedule them to send in the morning, and then pack up my laptop or be doing it from a browser and then let that computer go to sleep and still trust that my emails will send?

I had to switch back because new outlook does not make it possible to send over emails to onenote, something that has become essential in my workflow. Perhaps I can find a workaround for this, because new outlook definitely has features I like, but it does not feel complete yet. It really feels like the web version of an app, and I don’t mean that in a good way. It definitely feels slower too, even though I can not say for sure, but it was the feeling I got. It was frustrating to use.

    Hi,
Thanks for this video. I liked the "pin" feature, i find it useful and surely i'd use it when i definitively switch to the new version.
I tried it once and immediately rolled back as the main feature i use disappeared... : Conditional formatting.
An email doesn't have the same importance to me whether I'm the only one y the To-list or if I'm bCC'ed so i color the emails summary accordingly using conditional formatting in the view menu.
Does this still exist and missed it?
The other features, i believed they already exist in the desktop version, maybe not so straight forward. For instance you can create a "search folder" filtering for a supervisor category and pin it to favorites, this will do the same as the ⭐ in front of the category list you showed.

I am finding a really hard time printing out of the new Outlook. It defaults to a light gray default and no matter what I change my settings to on my printer, it doesn't update. If I write an email OUT then it prints in black but anything IN is gray.

The reason new Outlook looks EXACTLY the same as Outlook web version and can't open PST files, or copy/paste attachments between emails is because new Outlook IS SIMPLY Outlook Web version in a desktop wrapper. Like you can present web pages as apps in Chrome/Edge browser. It will be fine for 80% of users and a huge step over the Windows Mail app but no way is it a replacement for the fully featured Outlook Desktop version.

As a user of the web browser version of O365 Outlook, this new version of the desktop Outlook app is exactly the same, the web version stuck into a skinless Chrome window. The skin/theme from my web Outlook even came across.

I tried using it for a while. My job needs me to upload the emails to our ERP. This new outlook doesn't let you copy your mail to your desktop. Hence reverted. Else, it was a good update.

How do I see which account I am logged into? Looks like I don't have all the features you mentioned. In settings>>accounts, the only options I have is email accounts and signatures, the other four options aren't showing on mine. My ribbon doesn't have all the same options. The "send" button doesn't give me the option to schedule and my "My Day" does not show the "to do", it only shows the calendar. Is there some place I need to turn that on to access it? THanks for this video!! It was very helpful!

I loved the integration with ToDo, however I couldn't change configuration to see the total number of emails in the folder instead of the unread ones. I didn't find how to add the option of send a reminder of follow up when I send an email. I couldn't customize the size of the ribbon, so my quick steps are not at one click available. Finally, all my rules colapsed and it was a pain when I came back to the old Outlook

I hate it and reverted back to the "old" one as there are too many missing features that I constantly use: Search folders, Conditional Formatting and most importantly being able to use email templates (OFT). I also find extremely annoying, the checkboxes appearing when selecting more than one email.

I really wish Microsoft would offer what I call an "Internal Blind Copy" feature. This would allow everyone getting an Internal Blind Copy to see who else got one, such as people in your office--that way you'd know that Sally and Jim in Accounting got copied so you (in Marketing) wouldn't have to ensure they got the info by sending them a duplicate email. I figure as soon as I retire, Microsoft will make this available.

I work a lot with saving emails into windows file folders but this new version doesn't allow it but instead it wants you to download it and then move it into the folder. The previous version allowed me to simply drag and drop into the folder I wanted to. Thank you for your help // Danielle
