I became a Christian when I met God some years ago. Changed my life. Talk to him. He cares and understands and will help you. Then, after that, watch a few episodes of this. I say my prayers and then watch an episode in bed. It's just like meeting old friends and it helps enormously. Be of good cheer, my friend. God bless.
Me too. I escape here. It works. Unlike God this has no expectations of you. Just listen and feel nostalgic and close to creativity and peace and simplicity.
I’m with you. I come here to cry. But always seem to remember that I always predicted life would be this strange. This song brings me back to where I need to be…even if it’s just for a few minutes of my life
They should just re-broadcast these old episodes. If they made new ones I cannot believe that they'd achieve the same quality, simplicity or charm. I doubt they'd even try to. The voices would all have to be supplied by odious BBC luvvies.
Strange playing this to my baby newborn Daughter Luna, I have been in hospital at death’s door and this made me cry now thinking how beautiful it was and enjoying playing it to my Baby now home, I’m so pleased to be introducing her to one of my favourites as a youngster ❤️
Listening to this takes me back in time about 20 years. I’m about 4 or 5 years old, and I’m at my grandparents’ house watching this film on VHS and singing along to the songs, and burying my face in my grandads’ arms when Mole gets lost in the Wild Wood looking for Mr Badger. One of my fondest childhood memories. Thanks for sharing this.
Whenever I listen to this I think to myself where did it all go wrong? And then I remember... and cry... the simple life has gone and will never return... childhood...
Impossible to say what this music means to me. When the doctor holds his stethoscope to my heart, this is what he hears back. So much love is stored in this simple song, it brings me such peace to know it means just as much to so many others. To my Grandad and Grandmother, my Father, and Mr. Kenneth Graham and the wonders of Thames Telly - thank you for the best childhood of all! ❤
This is so beautiful. To me it's kind of sad, but hopeful at the same time. It deeply moves me, also because I watched Wind in the Willows as a kid, but mostly because it's just such an amazing piece of music. Thank you for uploading.
We were actually reading this at my school and we just finished reading it. It took about seven days to finish reading it. And everybody thinks that he was in all different times, but it was really made in 1908. More than a hundred years ago. Not exactly knowing how many years ago it was, thank you for sharing this and I did not know it had a theme song
@@user-bh4rx8mf8gAbsolutely, I noticed that immediately when I first heard this theme, having previously gotten to know the restored Norfolk Rhapsody No. 2. Vaughan Williams also uses the very similar opening in a piece that takes ideas from that rhapsody, one of the ‘Six Studies in English Folksong’.
I sob when I hear this because it so moves my heart to a time of innocense when my daughter was a little girl & we watched this together. No other music or song will do this to me.
This song randomly popped into my head on the train into work this morning, had to look it up when I got in, and oh my did it make smile. This would never be made now in this style.
This is beautiful I Grew up listening to this and watching the film. I read the book every night for years before discovering the film. Was gutted when I found that they had cut the scene with Pan playing the panpipes for the lost otter cub. That was my favourite bit
The Wind in the willows is one of the best works of English Literature ever known. Plus this adaptation of the novel was probably the best. Really brings me back so many memories of my childhood.
My late grandad used to collect all the dvds of wind in the willows from English newspapers and give them to me, I’m only 22 now but this holds so many memories of me watching this as a child
I am what would be called a millennial, so this series was already quite old when I watched it as a child. The series is excellent, with superb actors and a beautiful musical score. This orchestral intro music really is beautiful. Compare it to the fatuous, worthless nonsense that children are plonked in front of nowadways. I detest modernity.
Came here from the Trouble with Trains III, but I will remember this beautiful song and hopefully use it mentally for an event in my life where I need a song thats both happy and sad at the same time. Truely amazing song
+Dwurban MC, there's no need to be sarcastic to Alex, especially as they are quite right - a song has lyrics. This is an instrumental piece of work featuring a tune, or melody. You're right, though, it is truly lovely.
Listening to this reminds me of the Barnaby slough, i heard there gonna reduce the upper pond( or lake since i don't know what size differentiates them to exact)to a computer wide creek, which means that water rats, beavers, belted kingfishers, wooducks, and fish will lose their home, you might be thinking " But cant the animals move to the lower pond?" Well, nature doesn't always work that way, and there's a high probability that some of those creature's will die, the best me and others can do is revolt.
+D'andre Chesterfield . The credit is correct. I arranged and conducted this piece which was played by members of the Halle orchestra recorded at Pluto studios in Manchester.
+Elizabeth Ord-Hume I am pleased you enjoyed my arrangement. I also arranged the 1983 film and TV series from music written by Keith Hopwood and Malcom Rowe.
+Brian Ibbetson You gotta be kidding me! this piece is amazing. Was it for one of the T.V. WITW versions? What year? Have you ever thought about releasing this music on cd or vinyl?
When I simply can't take life anymore, this is where I come back to...
times were so much simpler then. Sending you much love xxx

@@HansJanus I know exactly what you mean. Deep thinker. I find my tribe in the comments of this video.
Forget the Disney Version, this is the most magical and enchanting version of the stories by far.
To be honest, I don't think the 1949 Disney version that bad.
Neither do I. The Disney version's great on it's own but simply can't compete against the Cosgrove Hall version! 😊
Patrick Ryan ~Amen to that! 👍👍
Disney is not the wonderful benevolent thing ppl think...
This has apathy, mystery, spirituality, beauty, nostalgia
happy childhood memories. tv isn't made like this anymore.
Yea, maybe they should do more on these.
They should just re-broadcast these old episodes. If they made new ones I cannot believe that they'd achieve the same quality, simplicity or charm. I doubt they'd even try to. The voices would all have to be supplied by odious BBC luvvies.
Wallace and Grommit stuff et al is almost as good :)
Little tear shed listening to this. I loved my childhood
Me too. :) I bet your childhood is beautiful like mine.
Could i back that times...???

Right on

Tears for times gone forever
It does return, when you have children and then again when the grand children arrive. Magicial
This intro always brings tears to my eyes,.. so beautiful...

Do you know who is rhe player? Which orchestra? I can't find it and means so much to me too!
Takes me back to simpler times.

I Understand what you mean and you're welcome.
This was my granny favroite film miss u gran 89 years old now
Kenneth Graham would’ve been very happy with this, the film and the soundtrack capture the essence so well
i remember when life was simple -
I know what you mean.
The most most most gorgeous music. Thank you for posting this. I remember this song note for note from when I was three years old.
You're welcome.

The opening section has an almost Vaughan-Williams feel to it. Wonderful theme from a childhood favourite.
It does abit.
I agree. It reminds me of the opening bars of the second movement of the Norfolk Rhapsody.

Bless the virtues that we all learned from this. ❤
All you gotta do is play the right tune and I'm crying man 😩 remembering all my friends and loved ones I've lost recently.
jesus loves you, you will see them again do not worry
Oh it's so melancholy and pretty at the same time, I used to love this hen I was little. I'd like to hear the version with words again.
These filled my entire childhood. I'm very grateful for having such wonderful masterpieces to watch. And the music has stuck with me all these years.

The Pan playing the pipes scene was adapted for the TV series that follows the movie.
my sis and I had a copy of this book and every morning when we woke up my dad would read a part of it to us...how enchanted we were....#memories
I hope you'll read it to your children too and pass on the gift.
I can't apprieciate how good this piece of music is! It just, is.
+TIMELORD327 Thank you. I'm glad you like it. (See my post above)
utterly beautiful, makes me all wistful and teary.
The Wind in the willows is one of the best works of English Literature ever known.
Plus this adaptation of the novel was probably the best. Really brings me back so many memories of my childhood.
I always love the English tone both in the book and the film.
I loved this as kid the nostalgia is really hurting as I wish I was a kid again
6 weasels disliked it xD
13 now :(
😂
Imagine after badger dies, the wild wooders (we mean weasels mainly) seem to change for good
Definitive version of TWITW. Nobody else interpreted the characterisation as well in the writing and acting as Cosgrove Hall did.
Ah, the 80's.... What a wonderful thing it is to be young. :'(
This is absolutely stunning music...
My late grandad used to collect all the dvds of wind in the willows from English newspapers and give them to me, I’m only 22 now but this holds so many memories of me watching this as a child
this movie completely changed my life
OMG I'm 7 again. A Classic children's tale, told the best way in my opinion, using Stop- Motion animation. Marvellous!
I agree. It's sad to see the shows doesn't have the same spirit as this one or the classic Thomas the Tank Engine series.
brings back so many wonderful childhood memories
So do I.
Yes this is the music of my childhood.
Complete bliss from a 2 1/2 minute opening theme to an animated movie... Quite the feat.
Cosgrove Hall's version of The Wind in the Willows is the best!
This is the film version god I used to love this a young kid
so soothing & peaceful.
Thankyou. You don't know how much this means to me.
Such beautiful music.
Perfect song for when you’re in the park on a sunny day.
Came here from the Trouble with Trains III, but I will remember this beautiful song and hopefully use it mentally for an event in my life where I need a song thats both happy and sad at the same time. Truely amazing song
Nobody is singing... it isn't a song.
Alex Paulsen Then what is it? A turkish game hen? Song, Music, Instrumental, whatever. Its still good. >.>
+Dwurban MC, there's no need to be sarcastic to Alex, especially as they are quite right - a song has lyrics. This is an instrumental piece of work featuring a tune, or melody. You're right, though, it is truly lovely.
This and the Moomins theme tunes both haunting themes from the early 80s
Truly beautiful ❤
The opening of this piece is very similar to the opening bars of the second movement of Vaughan Williams's Norfolk Rhapsody.
I remember watching The wind in the Willows when I was a child.
Oh sweet memories . Oh happy childhood I miss you
5 people got no wind in their willow
wow the 80s what a different world it was.... music is slightly uplifting and spooky mixed into one
Plucks at the heart strings.
The absolute wholesomeness of it is a special beauty in these demonic times. God Bless us all and forever.
Why would anyone dislike this video
The World may never know.
Maybe it's the weasels
blap200 Good point.

Beautiful :)
You're Welcome!

East Anglian music like. In the film its self is the GWR.
How Classic of this theme tune is?
Thank you.
❤️
I can't play this just now as I'm sitting with my girlfriend and I know I'll turn into a blubbering wreck.Haha.
Sad this version wasn't released on the soundtrack :/

Supposedly Wind in the Willows was inspired by a Scottish canal.
Makes sense with the author being Scottish.
Interesting....
The version of this music which was also a song is by Ralph Mctell
Elizabeth Ord-Hume Brian Ibbetson is credited on imdb for this arrangement.
+D'andre Chesterfield . The credit is correct. I arranged and conducted this piece which was played by members of the Halle orchestra recorded at Pluto studios in Manchester.
A beautiful piece of music Brian Ibbetson . . Evokes such fond memories of my childhood

Me too. :)
What about the theme song from the ITV version on this.
only song in solar system.
some of it resembles the tune of "bonnie prince charlie"
