Just checked and Medusa have surpassed their funding requirement for fuel. Many donations referencing your channel. I'm sure they would like some more to fuel the crew too.
Medusa is the ultimate template to help with your custom restoration. Sarinda will be proud to know her sister helped her out. An honor and a treat to see this beautifully and accurately maintained warship.
You are one of the few people who have ever slept on this boat. I bet there is a handful of civilians who have had the privilege, let alone navy personnel. That has to be something amazing to cherish. Thanks for the tour, Gemma. Brilliant job.
Gemma, what a fantastic video you made on Medusa! The way you showed the comparisons to Sarinda were perfect, and very interesting. With the beautiful music you had for background, it brought me to tears as you panned around Medusa"s points of interest. Thank you for this beautiful look back in history. Ed C Chicago, Illinois,USA
Wow Gemma, you hit it out of the ball park with this great episode - gave so much perspective between Medusa and Sarinda. Seeing you wearing clothes and shoes without paint and spackle is just real different - ha.
Wow ! ML 1387, so pleased she is still kept up in good order and all the RT kit in place. It is a real challenge so well done all. Thanks for interesting post
5:33 OH WOW!!! I’m so glad that you some comparisons and how wonderful to see the actual frames, web frames and stringers of Medusa and Sarinda. It must so nice for you Gemma to actually touch the related bits of the boat that in Sarinda you have restored, Oh what a marvellous boat you own Gemma, Sarinda is going to be amazing when she is finished. xxx
Thanks for sharing your tour of the Medusa. Very interesting to compare what we all recognize from Sarinda and what's original vs there from the refit. Can't wait to see if that big block is above the panels in the aft.
What a rare treat that was, for sure. It has to be encouraging to see the same type of construction used on Sarinda, and to know that you are doing everything right and proper. Since your boat had already been converted into a yaght, it would be impractical to return her back into a warship.
Done some money Gemma and what a joy to see her as she was pretty much.A credits to her keepers. You never know whats out there when it is time to fit out Sarinda, plenty of Navy dusty door to knock on yet.
Hi Gemma, what a fantastic opportunity to go and stay 80-year-old worship that wouldn’t be too many people in the world that would have this opportunity. Keep up the good work always love the videos Cliff from Australia
First time commenting but a long time subscriber. I really enjoyed this and you did a great job of showing a space on Medusa and then cutting to footage of the same area on Sarinda. Well done!!!
Now that was a fantastic clip....seeing the sister vessel to yours..... In all her 1944 spec, then the clips you show of yours in respect. I know you can't restore yours to original specs....due to age and neglect. But what a peace of history you have....hope both are very proud of what your doing.
What a fantastic opportunity you just had. Thanks for the guided tour and I can see now why putting Sarinda back to original spec would be so difficult.
What an amazing opportunity to see what your ship used to look like and be able to compare it to what your vision for the future holds. This was a great tour of the Medusa but I must admit I was VERY disappointed that you didn't get to at least send off ONE round from that deck gun!!! LOL.. Thanks Gemma. 😊😊😊
As already said by other, great video and great comparison. Most funny for me was when you where below the gun setup and I was wondering what all the stuff in the celling was and right away you told it .. I do agree your staircases are a lot easier, specially for the restauration. Its a pity on one hand you cant return it back to the 1943 status, but on the other hand there is already the medusa, and its nice to compare the 2 ships. Great video!
Well that was very different woww your boat looked like that. I agree the stairs are a lot better. Great walk around loved how you show your boat and the original boat. It sis look coasy with the col fire on. Great cause fund raiser. Sty safe 🫶🙏👍
OMG - i hope you got a pass to come this far south Gemma - nice guns by the way, always thought your biceps were bigger than Simon's great stay about Mudusa, and the tour was excellent to see the comparisons between the two boats, certainly helps bring Franks Capstick's diaries to life, and it be nice to try and source some similar brass light switches to put into Sarinda, have a chat with Leo on Sampson Boat builders, he would be a good source for that kind of thing, and i was watching a couple in Tazmania, who sourced many fabulous brass fittings online - i forget where but there are plenty to find - i notice Mudusa has a lot more circular portholes that rectangular compared to yours
There is very little use for a 1943 warship at the moment. Ships are adapted for the current use all the time. Very wise not to go all historic. But I have to admit the ML1387 is a treasure!
Great video, Gemma! Just going to the donation link now as the cost of the fuel to get to Normandy and back these days will be huge! Tom from Sydney, Australia
Nice one Gemma must have smelt like a real ship again Glad someone is doing them and after watching some films to see how they were treated after the war well dont get me started
Thanks, Gemma, for the well made video with direct comparisons between Medusa and Sarinda. While there was a previous video featuring Medusa going out for a day trip, the demonstration of "this is the radio room, and this is what it looks like on Sarinda" was an excellent way to visualize what was modified on Sarinda. I recognized web frames, beam shelf, and metal knees. I think you probably had your workout for the week climbing up and down the vertical ladders. That would definitely be a poor layout for what's intended to be a yacht. The wardroom looked really cozy! But the fire wasn't an actual wood fire, was it? One question you didn't answer was were the engines on Sarinda the originals, modified with modern controls, or new, different ones? They all seemed like 6-cylinder inline but could have been a different make/model?
It would have been a cheaper option. More practical too. I wonder how the cat engines would rate horsepower wise and hull speed compared to the Gardner's though?
Thanks for a fabulous video. You have a real knack fir producing these, the cuts and views from different angles were really well done. Now time to finish your holibobs and help poor 😢 simon 😂
Gemma after reading your book and the experience of that you 17 year old sailor and watching this video brings him to life. Walking the decks to where he walked. 😅
Well you know, the ship that you have could have some of the features of the Medusa, certainly not all. That is use what you can so that it has some retro things so that it looks like the Medusa in many ways and actually looks like it could have been a war ship. Cheers!
Quite a trip down memory lane Gemma. It is almost surreal and emotional knowing what these marinesoldiers must have gone through and comparing that to the misery in Ukraine and Palestine right now. History’s simply repeating. Great to know that your floating piece of history will be saved.👍
Did you get measurements of the deck beams? Sarinda has been so mauled about by 1980s “refits” it’s hard to know what the correct measurements are. The deck handrails also show how she should look when (one day) you get yours done.
Nice to see original spec to now on serinda the change she has taken to defleet her looks, but when she done she will look great for when she first transformed.
What a lovely boat. I used to spend nearly every weekend on an ex Royal Navy Fleet Tender berthed in Grimsby Docks. To be fair, they are quite comfortable, I used to use the Captain's cabin when I was there on my own. There is something quite nice about being in a commercial dock late at night with all the lights and the gentle lapping of the water against the hull. The only downside was when the huge car carriers come in or go out at 3am, they make quite a racket when only 2m away from your ship.
When you read this, you need to tell your husband to take you out for a lovely spaghetti. Dinner with real beef meatballs. A nice Italian restaurant very romantic. This will inspire him to work harder lol.
You can really tell that these boats were built to exacting standards by a non military shipyard, even if they were built on contract for the military.
04/01/2024 Hello Ship. Amazing video. They have a very beautiful boat or ship. You will get there. For now you need to repair her then restore her at your leasute. I can't wait, Up near the bow you need to make some periods correct bed hamocks. That is the real bedroom for the crew. Simple rope and canvas is what they had. Just one more video view for authenticity. Stay well and be safe. Don usa
Donation done !! Good luck Maducer !! As people have already said what an AMAZING experience, but I'm guessing the REAL reason you're probably there is to Scrutinize every square inch and hundreds of pictures to compare lol😊 LOVING THE LITTLE WEE BOOTS MON !! where did you get them ?? Are they just boots for women or men also ??
While you were there I hope you went to see the only working Biber mini submarine at the RN Museum Gosport, similar to (or even?) the one captured by ML1392.
Very interesting indeed. Where do you get the time to do all these things, building other boats, building sheds, fishing competitions and family. I’m exhausted just watching you…

By looking at this boat's inter belly. It shows how great of a job Simon & u have been doing to the inside belly of your boat.
Just checked and Medusa have surpassed their funding requirement for fuel.
Many donations referencing your channel.
I'm sure they would like some more to fuel the crew too.
The real Medusa... In Southampton? A hdml.
@@rolandveshengho3913 that’s the one in this video! She is not based in Southampton
The comparison between Medusa structure and Sarinda shows what a cracking job your doing. Great video ❤
Thank you so much!
Medusa is the ultimate template to help with your custom restoration. Sarinda will be proud to know her sister helped her out. An honor and a treat to see this beautifully and accurately maintained warship.

Interesting to see this ship and the same bits you’ve been working on.
Gemma, what a fantastic video you made on Medusa! The way you showed the comparisons to Sarinda were perfect, and very interesting. Thank you very much for this video! Appreciate it a LOT 👍
Greets from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, TW.
That was an amazing tour of the ship. Very enjoyable, Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow Gemma, you hit it out of the ball park with this great episode - gave so much perspective between Medusa and Sarinda. Seeing you wearing clothes and shoes without paint and spackle is just real different - ha.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How lovely for you Gemma, fascinating to meet Sarinda's sister, different but also familar.
Thanks for the tour Gemma, and thanks to you both for keeping your boat alive. 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wow ! ML 1387, so pleased she is still kept up in good order and all the RT kit in place. It is a real challenge so well done all. Thanks for interesting post
Wow! This is phenomenal, you’re so lucky!
What an absolute treat for you. Now, we can see. just how fabulous Sarinda will be. Medusa is truly a cause worthy of support..
Great piece of history, thank you for showing us.
5:33 OH WOW!!! I’m so glad that you some comparisons and how wonderful to see the actual frames, web frames and stringers of Medusa and Sarinda. It must so nice for you Gemma to actually touch the related bits of the boat that in Sarinda you have restored,

Great video, really interesting to see the comparison shots. Well done Gemma.
What an excellent video. Amazing to see her sister and side by side comparisons. Great job Gemma!
I love the blue color on Medusa’s decking and hope you will consider it for Sarinda! So lovely for you to treat us to this tour!❤
Absolutely wonderful video. Gemma did a fantastic presentation showing us the beautiful Medusa and all the parts of that incredible warship.
That tour was really touching. I think this vessel "recognized" you because are working on her sister. Thank you so much !
I like the little copper basins below each porthole.
Done some money Gemma and what a joy to see her as she was pretty much.A credits to her keepers. You never know whats out there when it is time to fit out Sarinda, plenty of Navy dusty door to knock on yet.
After seeing Madusa, I understand the attraction to restore and save Sarinda.
Hi Gemma, what a fantastic opportunity to go and stay 80-year-old worship that wouldn’t be too many people in the world that would have this opportunity. Keep up the good work always love the videos Cliff from Australia
After reading the book it was nice to see the original layout of Sarinda. Well done on the work you guy's have done so far.
The comparison pics were a great idea and helps to put in to perspective the layout of your boat. A great video well done. 👍
First time commenting but a long time subscriber. I really enjoyed this and you did a great job of showing a space on Medusa and then cutting to footage of the same area on Sarinda. Well done!!!
That was really neat to see the ship Medusa. I had no idea how Sarinda would have kinda looked back then. thank you for sharing.
Wow. Thank you so much for posting this. I loved how you compared the two ships. You really have come a long way with Sarinda.
Thank you so much!
Fantastic tour. Thank you, Gemma!

What a fantastic opportunity you just had. Thanks for the guided tour and I can see now why putting Sarinda back to original spec would be so difficult.
Yes difficult, and not really useable for a young family.
Sarinda could have a reduced superstructure but going back to wartime levels would be completely impractical.
Wonderful Jemma! Thanks for this look into Serindas sister ship, Take Care.
Medusa looks so beautiful, especially with that diagonal plank deck. Would love to see that style on Sarinda instead of ply!
What a treat for the sweetie. Love it, so much inspiration. Outstanding.
Very cool! Thanks for taking us along. 🇨🇦
Our pleasure!
Really enjoyed the tour Gemma, like i enjoy all of your videos of work on Sarinda.😊
Thanks so much 😊
Thanks Gemma, Was wondering what the engines were and I guess they were the engines fitted originally.
That's one heck of a privilege for you Gemma.
When Serinda is finished you will have to invite them over.
Thank you very very much for this superb video (Gemma …your a natural). 🇨🇦👍
Thank you! 😃
We did meet the captain of Medusa a couple of years ago, what a nice guy he is.
As already said by other, great video and great comparison. Really cool to see how she was originally. I like how your vessel is laid out more practical for Family adventures / living
We agree!

It would have been a cheaper option. More practical too. I wonder how the cat engines would rate horsepower wise and hull speed compared to the Gardner's though?
Medusa and Serinda for the 90 year anniversary?keep up the good work you guys I have been watching from the start from new Zealand
Very cool, Thanks for sharing. I bet it gives you a lot of great ideas.
It does!
Best video, helped understand your ship. Hope you get your wiring sorted.
Beautiful boat with brilliant Gardner diesels.Sirinda will be as good one day.
Awesome opportunity seems strange how the boats are so similar but so different really interesting
Nicely put together video, you go girl!
Thank you so much!!

Recognised her straight away.
Welcome to my home waters! :)
Wow! That is amazing 👍☺
Lovely old Gardner-8 diesels ♥
That was really Interesting. ❤

marvellous...wonderful....
Great video!, my dad was an engine mech. on a torpedo/gunboat during wwII (there were some dutch flottilla's)
Thanks!

Just excellent TH-cam content. Well done.

tthe best she has looked in 80 years.. looking real nice
Was it hard to resist the urge to take her out? Great video, thank you and great boots.
Best regards from Indiana, USA.
Very interesting indeed.
Where do you get the time to do all these things, building other boats, building sheds, fishing competitions and family. I’m exhausted just watching you…
The Medusa is very special..Was she not involved in the first few minutes of the DDay Normandy landings????
The Medusa played the same part as Sarinda on dday, but was on a different channel
Why did you wait so long before you brought your viewers aboard? What did we miss. Just curious.
Not sure I understand what you mean, we have also done a full tour video and even a trip out on the Medusa a couple of years previously
