Thanks man nice job, but i want to give you advice how to transfer control a lot of units more easier 1:go to edit team
2 add a player 3 and go to scripts and just choice "team" and control of ____ transfer to _______

The AI needs the inner, outer Perimeter and the combatzone area + correctly placed Attack pathways to be able to build and attack

Although I can edit existing mission maps, and play them, anything new doesn't seem to get listed as a possible custom map. I'm doing the obvious thing of naming map and folder the same, and getting rid of funny characters, but they simply don't show up as viable maps.

You'd have to package it the game's Maps directory, not the folder your maps are usually saved in.
You could package your Maps as a .big file as well, just make sure it's read first(add 0s or !s to the .big filename) before MapsZH.
