  • Quick comparison between flapper and spring loaded one way check valves.
    Flapper
    PRO: Low water pressure loss, long life, higher temperature resistant.
    CON: limited orientation (if horizontal, the cap must be up. If vertical "flow up" only), back leakage
    Spring
    PRO: Any orientation, no back leakage
    CON: Pressure loss, more limited life

    how to you disassemble the spring check valve?

      It unscrews typically. Depends on the brand.

    Where can I purchase the one way spring valve

      Most hardware stores I have shopped at have them. They are in the plumbing section.

    Nice. Is a check valve required by code where you live?

    • @tsbrownie
      @tsbrownie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is, but it's not strictly enforced. How about where you are?

      @@tsbrownie Not sure. Our home is 46 years old and doesn't have one so it must not have been required back then. We do however have a pressure reducing valve which i had to replace once since we built the home. Water pressure is 110 psi during the day and higher at night. The valve is adjustable but is factory set at 40 psi. Works well.

      @@adnacraigo6590 Wow, 110 psi! Every area I've lived, North, South, East, SE, SW, and Midwest, always had lower pressures like 45 psi down to less than 1 psi on a friend's farm.

      @@tsbrownie Upstate South Carolina. Our water comes from higher up in the nearby mountains.

      @@adnacraigo6590 That makes sense. I used to live in Charlotte, NC but don't remember having that much pressure.
