Slipping is a little more risky on the street because people rarely throw textbook shots, especially not straights. They tend to throw arcing shots, overhand right haymakers or shots that look more like hammer fists. It's usually not worth the risk on the street, lean and parry or step-back and stiff arm tend to be more high percentage against big swingers and pre-emptive suckerpunchers.

This is why I learned about jamming attacks in Kenpo. You aggressively get into the forceful space if the attack before it comes out.
It requires serious reaction timing experience that you would only get, if you've been attacked on the streets already but it's also risky for most of us who only practice in gyms and dojos against other trained fighters.
There really is no "best defence system". It all comes down to the raw and real scenario and experience.

You can tell this guy has been into so many street fights in Newcastle or just in England in general with the majority of them being confrontation he tried but could not avoid. Which is why I hate it when people say the best way to avoid a fight is to not be in one. People who say that don't understand that a lot of fights are unavoidable especially in you teens to your late 20's. Every gun altercation you guys have in America is a fist fight for a lot of people living in the UK.

Steps to avoid getting punched in a streetfight
    1. Never get in a streetfight.
    2. If you're put into a streetfight, make sure you have a gun and then just start blasting.
    3. If you're put into a streetfight and you don't have a gun, use any other weapon you have on you or can find.
    4. If you're put into a streetfight and you don't have a gun or any weapons make a bet with your opponent on making it a kick fight to see who can get in the most kicks. You might avoid getting punched.

Hello, can you make a video about rhythm in boxing. I wonder which is better, a rhythm fighter or a rhythm breaker? Should you let your opponent adjust to your rhythm or match your opponent's rhythm?
I heard that the latter one lessens the discrepancy between you and your opponent, so I'm thinking that it's the superior style, but in contrast I noticed that Pacquiao is always doing his own rythm and make his opponent adjust instead.
If both were right and no one is better than another, then when is the right time to utilize each other in the middle of a fight? Thank you.

Tony, you shouldn't cross the centre line when slipping. You need to roll under. You'll get tagged by the right-hand on the way back. There are three head positions, one-two-three. One: Centre position. Two: slipping position. Three: ducking position. Coach Anthony (a boxing trainer on TH-cam) teaches this well. You're only half right! You forgot about your shields: have your hands up while slipping!

i've seen some vids of these fighters who have an AMAZING ability to slip and dodge punches and i'm never sure whether it's because they have the reflexes of a cat or whether it's more a matter of technique and practice. Punches just come at you so fast and from close proximity that it just seems incomprehensible that someone can get out of the way after it's been thrown, so is it more about leaning too a side as soon as you see any type of movement that 'could' be a punch maybe? And also would you always slip the punch and move the head to your left if a right handed punch is coming at you like in this vid?

Getting punched in the face doesn't hurt. It's well over-rated. You might go down, but it doesn't hurt. THey're far more likely to hurt themselves on your face. Use an open hand slap or an elbow, or just blast them in the solar plexus.

Got in a brawl the other day with at a family event like 20+ people going at it I was the only kid (I’m 16) everyone else is 24-40 and 5,11 6,4 I was hitting people clean and they weren’t dropping how can I get ko power, I’ve always wanted to get training to gain confidence in my striking but it’s expensive

All you need is to throw a fast, unpredictable, and powerful punch.
For example, you should feint to get them to where you want them to be and then throw a fast and powerful punch, the best knockout punches are the ones that you can't see coming.
A tip: when you are fighting, think about speed rather than power so your punches can actually be faster aswell, and don't forget to turn your hips with each punch to generate more power, lol.

Another thing, if you want to get more punching power, you should try shadowboxing with weights and doing explosive pushups.

Great information on slipping punches, very useful. It's been my experience in the street fight's I've been involved in at least, guys will generally try and take you out with that one big right or left cross hay maker shot. So the techniques shown in the video definitely pertain to the vast majority of "street fighters". I don't see myself going for a similar shot on my opponent after slipping their punch however. The problem with punching someone in the face is you run the real risk of breaking one or several bones in your own hand. I know because I was in a fight years ago and the guy punched me in the head and broke two bones in his hand. This is just crazy thinking to me. I'd much rather gouge my opponents eyes or poke his throat as a counter move and get away or if he insists on continuing the fight, after slipping another of his punches, gouge his eyes or throat again and proceed to break his arm or leg with a ju jutsu technique. To me that's much better, breaking their bones rather than breaking my own hand.

I don’t know why iam more effective blocking catching and perring punches than slipping them in my sparring sessions it’s been work to the extent of my partners complaining of getting their forearms hurt when I block but in all honesty I really wish I could slip punches or maybe guys my size struggle with slipping punches i dont know cause iam like 260lbs
