Are you suffering from job search fatigue? Searching for a job is time consuming and discouraging. Follow these 5 tips to help you stay positive while job hunting and be sure to give the video a thumbs up 👍if you like it and let me know in the comments below, what your biggest challenge is when it comes to job searching.
Professor Heather Austin yea I was confident in my job search in the past 9 months after completing my internship but at the same time it was miserable because I never heard back after applying.
It gets tougher for those who have been out of work for over six months or a year, and most employers prefer to have someone who is already employed, which I read is a Catch-22 scenario. The unemployed even wonder if there is any point to searching if all they ever get is rejection, and stop looking altogether, and become discouraged. I hope that those who have been out of work for this long can grow their skill sets and land a job, or hope the employers will hire them and lift them up.
I really needed to hear this! I've been really struggling to stay motivated and have found myself absolutely dreading the entire job application process. I just felt so overwhelmed and felt unqualified for even jobs I've already done. The job searching procress can really affect how you seen your qualifications and skills. This video was really helpful because it’s a reminder that I’m not the only one who feels like this when job searching. I think I need to tweak how I'm job searching and I will definitely incorporate all these tips to hopefully land a good job soon. Also, I decided to take up bread-making so I’m not spending all my time job searching and slowly but surely, I’ve really seen progress in the bread I make. Thanks Heather!
Hi Laura! I'm so thrilled to hear my video helped you today. It's so easy to get discouraged during a job hunt. You're not alone. That's great to hear you are bread making. Doing something productive, with you hands will help you move forward with you job search in a more positive way. Keep me posted with how things go for you.
@@shawnmclean7932 let’s not talk about the bread making lol. It went pretty bad but good thing my job search didn’t! I’ve been working for two charities and looking for my next move but thankful to currently have a job.
I love the tip around debriefing each interview! It's so important to see where there are opportunities for improvement, but also where we did really well!
Hi Heather! Hey, thanks for watching. So glad you enjoyed the tip about debriefing. This is one of my favorite things to do after any interview situation.
Heather good too see you back... my biggest tip for job search fatigue is to stop and reassess. Stop looking at the ads or online and look at your resume and yourself. Sometimes it just takes a breather
Hi Dana! I'm so sorry to hear you haven't found a job yet. Keep at it my friend. The right thing will come along. Let me know if you have any questions along the way.
Thanks for sharing all of this great advice on How To Stay Motivated While Job Hunting! I think this can apply to employees and employers. And, it is even a little different with those of us who own our own business. "Job Search Fatigue" is real. I know personally finding clients or convincing people to buy some product / service is a "fatigue" in itself. It is the same as looking for a job when you are looking for a client. For every 100 no's there will be at least one yes (and hopefully more) Great video as always Heather. - Bloggin Brandi

Thanks for this awesome video on the emotional side of the job search. I love point three about surrounding yourself with positive people in particular. One thing I liken this to is also surrounding yourself with personal and professional advocates, people that are going to know you well and really lift you up and sell you forward. Great video Heather, thanks for putting this out there!

I think equally important is playing a competitive sports which you try to play better overtime and one would feel positive winning, or losing cause you to try playing better and harder.
I feel like none of these help that much because for me I know I'm qualified and have what it takes but it doesn't matter. It seams as if no matter what I do I won't get the job. I have skills and hobbies I pursue daily and make progress in, it seams to be irrelevent. Everyone I've tried to connect with on linked in looks at me in pitty. Any advice they can give I already know because I have been doing this for so long. I have had my resume review and remade at least 1000 times. I have even made a website portfolio to further showcase my skills and work. I just feel like Ive tried everything.
Hi, I will have my second interview tom with the Managing Director. Just curious and I checked the job posting just right now in linkedin and it's not there anymore. No more job posting. What does that mean? Thanks in advance for your response!
