      @@DJPain1 One of the most famous examples is the theme to Mortal Kombat. The sample comes from a once popular song called Twilight Zone by 2 Unlimited and this was admitted by the maker of the Mortal Kombat Theme. The Mortal Kombat beat you hear at sporting events is that sample so I don't know who gets the money when that sample is played. Anyways the only credits on the theme song, called Techno Syndrome, is Oliver Adams and The Immortals.
      I guess the only credit is in the title Mortal Kombat II Unlimited.

    Yes. Scale it up times millions with traceable sub audible metadata? There is an optional service on many platforms to track the sub audible tags and cross reference them to see who made them and if it is licensed, if not, royalties to you. It’s an additional cost that works for you, now. So they get a tagged banger that goes platinum? Ok. If it’s sub audibly tagged on public platforms? Bonus. No dispute, no call, no email,…wish them the best and collect the royalties. …and yes I figured that out by watching people reverse engineer that to happen on purpose and they started retiring (um, sketchy, yes)…I’ll email, if you have more questions. No pitch, I had a similar problem: it can get deep fast. Royalty protection service? People rereleasing licensed anything do you a favor, every time. This is not applicable to everyone. Just established, known, big producers with gold and platinum albums, like you. Observation, not compliment. Respectfully ~ stefan

    • @DJPain1
      @DJPain1  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There’s no service that automatically collects royalties from streaming/radio/etc off a sub audible. If there were, this wouldn’t be a conversation.

    • @metacouture
      @metacouture ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DJPain1 Respect. Not an argument. It’s a book within a book that is in the preferences set in paid, auxiliary, and built in tools.
      You and I as normal people getting started, it’s like your advice to not register beats. Excellent advice. Me? Not going to need this with beats for a while.
      However, there is a tipping point where we are equal in the eyes of the divine and we are not equal when you have beats being taken frequently.
      To be clear, there are many ways to do this and it is a form of income for some people who use strategies we do not.
      The legit way to get paid is not technically royalties. You are precise and correct and I like that about you. Thank you.
      No. Not royalties. However. In TH-cam, it is called “The Copyright Match Tool.” It is technical and not accessible easily. It is there. Labels can use these tools like doing ballet on a trampoline, reading a paper, and drinking coffee, blindfolded, while sleep walking. It doesn’t do royalties. In some cases (especially when there are source files and sub audible tags to quickly prove to a platform you own and originated)? They will direct ad revenue to you on the major platforms.
      It is a mental backflip and not worth thinking about until it is a daily thing.
      That is first.
      Then there is an opt in service on Distrokid. A label can run a mid level artist through the release gauntlet where they know the work will be taken and make more off that artist than they could with their music.
      Mental backflips and worse situations for me to get here.
      And for the situation you are describing? With sub audible tags and an extra fee? The service on Distrokid is called "TH-cam Content ID." Working with the first tool, mentioned above, on TH-cam? This service figures out who is doing what and coordinates directing ad revenue to you. Some labels distribute through their own and Distrokid to have that service. None of what I’m saying is hypothetical.
      Used unethically? I don’t do that. I don’t think about it.
      Used ethically with the correct settings there and in the administration sections of the major platforms? There is legal compensation without a lengthy copyright suit (3 years and you know how much), provided we are talking about a whale beat and loop maker that is getting copied by beat factories outside copyright jurisdiction. The oh sh__ on that final detail. The icing on the cake and proof there is, as you said, no way to collect royalties on the majority of work appropriated…unless it is published on public platforms with these services. Not easy to find. I am sure major labels know people in these departments by name.
      It’s a marathon, not a set of sprints. Right now? Some people call it quickening. Some call it brinking. I tend to think it is the cumulative effect of doing this every day till it is part of us, like putting on our shoes.
      Whatever you call it? If you look at the waves and frequency? You have big stuff happening. That is where it gets complicated.
      I’m sure you will figure it out as you focus on the work.
      Best ~ stefan
