Packing cubes are perfect for me. I’ll get to the Airbnb and just pop the packing cubes in the draw rather than unpacking everything. They are also so much neater and compact. Thx Tayler.

Biggest issue is that roll method. If you lay flat big things like pants, dresses, shorts and even shirts you can fit a lot more. Packing cubes limit what you can do far too much.

I presume that is for hygienic reasons ? I mean, where does the luggage go and who touches it , right?

International airlines have weight limits on carry-on. It's all about saving weight for me, so I do not use packing cubes in carry-on. And toiletries go in a simple ziploc bag.

Packing cubes don't add weight to your suitcase though, they just help organize it

@@TravelingTayler Sorry, for me when flying, only with carry-on and personal item, it works without packing cubes.
I made a test on a scale. Result: Without using, for example 4 packing cubes in carry-on and/or personal item, I can pack additional clothing > 2 sport fabrics light short sleeve shirts or 4 tank-tops. That's important for me, bc I often have my sport equipment (also weight limits apply) with me and I don't want to have additional costs for normal checked luggage.
When just travelling without flying then packing cubes are okay - I don't worry about weight and size limits. But at international/island hoppers/European flights additional weight counts, if I would like to have some more pieces of clothing packed. Here for me weight concept prevails organization concept.
Note: For example budget European airlines have extremely restricted weight limits (both international and domestic) and they observe them strictly - both on carry-on and personal item. Some even allow only 7 kg (15 lbs) on carry-on and even no additional personal item. And other European airlines (even also US airlines at codeshare international) meanwhile have also strict weight restrictions - both international and domestic. Meanwhile it's all about weight and size limits when flying international. I'm experienced traveller and sometimes I wish back old times, when airlines were more "relaxed" on luggage weights.
I hope, you understand now my opinion about packing. Happy travels.

litterally the dumbest distinction. they're not organized? like, put the tops at the top and the bottoms at the bottom...boom...organized.

Did you not see how much better it looked and how much more room is used , rather than the first way. Plus it gives the clothes more protection. The only thing I can think of that would be undesirable is when the airport people check your bags and would want to unpack those little cubes. 🙄

@@TravelingTayler Thank you, we are flying to India next yr and the thought of packing for 3 kids and 2 adults has my anxiety levels up!!
Also, do u pre choose outfits or do u pick a bunch of bottoms and a bunch of tops and wing it?
      Do u write a list?
Any other travel / packing hack?

    • @TravelingTayler
      @TravelingTayler 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I don't pick specific outfits but I make sure that everything I pack can be worn with multiple things to make different outfits. I also think ahead to the types of activities I'll be doing and make sure I have something for any special event (hiking, water activities, nice dinner, etc).
I generally like to pick my outfits from the bottom up, so I start with my shoes since they take up the most space and I usually have a (self-imposed) limit on how many I can bring, and then match my clothes around those. I pull everything out that I want to take and then I typically have to remove some things once I actually start packing due to space.
I don't write out a list because I pack so often I can remember what all to grab, but I do sort of start making mental notes in my head a couple of days before I start packing and sort of getting clear. Even the week of I've pulled things out of the closet and start making piles if it's something I'm more likely to forget (like water shoes or something I don't pack often)
Hope that helps! Enjoy your trip to India!
