- Gold Trails and Ghost Towns - Lost Golden Plate Ledge (#22): Lost Golden Plate Ledge, located south of the Canadian-U.S. border near Grand Forks, B.C., was discovered by accident in the early 1900's. After leaving the area, it's founder was never able to relocate the mine.
Fascinating!
Wow this is expert level analysis of the area and its mining history.
Love these episodes.
Yeah the one guy really seems to know everything you really knows this stuff
Love these programs.
Thanks for keeping it going !! I was just looking Bill up to send a friend some stress-less , relxing content. Watched Barlee/Roberts in the 90's in Kelowna, and live outside Nelson since '79.
I got this story from my deceased mining partner Leo Bruce a Colville Indian. He was one of the founders of the big uranium mine in Ford.
Wow that's so awesome thank you so much for sharing
Just saw a shout out to your channel from the Rossland Museum today.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Denim jackets are popular on this show.
It's the Canadian tuxedo. Jean jackets are standard issue for Canadians.
@@vadenk4433 Its a chill style for a chill place i guess.
I wished my Uncle Otto would have had a chance to see this program .He would have enjoyed it as much as I have through out the years. He lived in Kaslo for years but never got a chance to see it before he passed.
I would guess that was because of television reception in Kaslo then. The show was from Kelowna. You can study Ernie Alexander's books....Where the Lardeau River Flows, etc. True local history. Uncle Otto would like that. Probably harder than ever to find, as transgender literature rank over local history in local libraries. Ya....maybe you can't find Ernie's true history books, after all. Enjoy the show ....last of it's kind. Bill ran for govt.. Raised in Rossland.
This is amazing. The you said he asked his uncle last year in 1987 about a mine. That means this video was from 1988. That’s awesome these older videos are on TH-cam to preserve information.
Kind of reminds me of terry carters channel where he interviews old miners or story tellers about gold or even Native American stuff.
James J. Hill was a good friend of my grand parents who built the hotel in downtown Cathlamet, Washington.
Wow that's awesome thank you so much for sharing
It’s awesome this series still exists. I recall looking for it numerous times in TH-cam’s infantile stage, but it wasn’t until a few years ago it had resurfaced. Thank you for sharing💚
Great old series. I miss it !
Yes I miss the best of times too friend!
these stories are part of our rich history of how this rugged land was inhabited, and must be preserved. Rip Bill Barlee.
Oh gosh I was just wondering if Bill Barley was still alive? Sad man I realize that I too am getting so old now. I'm 57 born in 1966 it's 2023. I remember watching this show as a young fella and enjoying it very very much. I just found it today September 27th 2023. I will be watching every episode now. So thank you to all who post episodes
It’s sad that history is literally being blatantly destroyed by the federal government. I live in Utah and the forest service literally has burned down old mining cabins and destroyed sites.
Thankfully some mine openings are somewhat saved. They put rebar over mines so bats can use the mine still but keep people out. But a ton of old buildings on blm or forest service land are being destroyed.
I probably never saw alot of them!
Awesome that you can still go find gold
I'll ditto that - thanks for uploading these historic videos.
Totally cool video
I wonder what happened to Mr. Barlees collection after he passed?
it became part of the collections in Victoria BC, though he was known to sell soem things here or there in exchange for more interesting pieces.
We should find out this is an incredible collection of Bill had! I hope it's been preserved
Very interesting. Thank you for posting
thank you
Thanks for uploading these videos. I have a friend that has a bunch of episodes that you don't have on your channel. Let me know if you'd like a copy.
I would love any copies I can get my hands on.
the wrigleys who dealt with gold in the northwest having bought a mine which had produced 400 ounces in one pocket ....,made more money in chewing gum later than thmining ey ever did with mining!their fortune later bought catalina island off of los angeles and san pedro's l.a. harbor!and it is now a privately owned nauture preserve over most of it's acrage with avalon's spectacular ballroom home of many big band performanaces pre-world war two! so "chewing gum" beat out gold in wealth production!
