Where there is light, there is dark, where there are heroes, there are villains, but a legend? A legend is but a lie. However even a lie can ignite the flames of of hope. Once the fires of hope are ignited all obstacles in our lives can be conquered and overcome, with a new legend being made for every one of us, only limited by the obstacles faced in that life. When the Rotha came to town one was different from the rest. She looked different, there was a scar on her forehead, she carried a sword. I tried to tell everyone that she was special, but the adults all told me to hush. "She's just a foundling Rithi," they all said. "Everyone knows some Rotha are orphans." But I knew they were wrong. The woman's stories we different. She in the day sang songs in the square, she could sing anything anyone asked for, she knew them all. And at night when she would take her money and come to the pub she told incredible stories, of magi University, ancient barrow lords, lamps that burned all they touched and a black haired hero on a quest to find a library long since sealed away and forgotten. The Rotha stayed for three weeks, and at each weekend in the evenings they put on plays. Extravagant things, stories of Rotha showmanship could never do justice to seeing them actually perform. I would see the foundling woman to the side of the stage, her face deep in thought as she produced magical spectacles to accentuate the play, her skill in spellcraft acting as unmatched special effects. Finally, on the second to last day the Rotha stayed with us, I stopped the woman when she came to the inn in the evening, putting down the drinks my auntie had me serving and stood in the woman's way, arms folded. "I know who you are," I said. "Oh?" Said the woman, bemused. "I figured that was a given, you've already asked me my name." "Uh uh," I said shaking my head back and forth. "Not your name. I know who you really are. You ain't Rotha, you're The Black And Gold, you studied at the Univeristy of Svabodnyyegorad, you sealed Aern Geoth and you stopped the Rat Catcher Of Hein." "And what makes you think that, little Rithi," she responded, leaning back on one foot and crossing her arms over her chest. She still appeared bemused, but now watched me with much more intensity. Where once her eyes would dart around the room, as if she was always ready for what came next, now she watched me and me alone. "Because," I said. "You look like the songs. And you know magic." "Lots of people look like the songs Rithi, what's your point?" "I want you to teach me. So I can summon monsters, and call on wind and fire, and read minds and pick up heavy things and teleport across the world!" I was speaking fast, unable to even take a breath, as if when I stopped she would dissappear and my chance at adventure and greatness would be gone forever. As I took a deep breath to launch into all of the wondrous things I wanted to learn, the bard held her hand up to stop me, and something about the authority in which she did so, I couldn't help but stand up straight as if I was soon to be scolded. "Why should I do that?" She said. "What's wrong with your life here? You are comfortable, you are safe, what will I accomplish by taking you away from here?" "I'm tired of this town and I'm tired of my auntie always bossing me around and I'm tired of Hensrich Schpatler always pushing me into the mud, I wanna be like you, I want them to write songs and poems about my great deeds." She grinned at me at that, but while for the past three weeks her smiles had always appeared playful and friendly, now I felt as if I was staring into the mouth of a hungry wolf. She leaned forward and put her hand on my shoulder, and when I looked in her eyes it was like staring at the deepest, darkest depths of the oceans. "Forget those songs Rithi," she said, "none of them are true. The true stories? You wouldn't believe me if I told you what really happened." And with that, she straightened back up and waded into the inn, finding any open ear who would ply her with ale in exchange for an exciting story. I felt like I wanted to cry, and two days later when the caravan left I still wanted to cry. But I couldn't give up that easily. No great hero gave up at the first sign of trouble. I couldn't let this chance slip from my fingertips. That night I packed a bag and followed after the caravan, though when I caught up to them I found myself at first to embarrassed to approach them, until finally a young boy caught me in the morning when he came to the woods to pee, and I was put before the woman again. If I could go back now and tell my younger self to listen, I would do it in a heartbeat. When Siona O'Callaigh The Black And Gold told me that the songs were nothing like the truth, I thought it was her embellishing. But in truth, she had not been honest enough.

How long had they been gone, They could not remember but now they could rest. But Darkness never rest. Soon they were drawn back in this time defending their home. The simple village and farms. They would be force to fight once more. But they took up their sword again and march out to meet the darkness again and again each time beating it back and each time returning home to rest. the Legend and tails soon began to grow and spread of their deeds until the truth became myth and legend. But one day the Legend return to the field once more and all saw the truth. They bleed like anyone else but their will and drive made them into the legend they now are.*

I feel like a legend now
