- SWE: Denna filmen följer i fotspåren på originalfimen från Juni 2012.
Lång, tråkig men intressant. Den förklarar lite hur bilarna fungerar och lite uppgraderingar som gjorts, bl a fram/back-kopplingen och kylningen.
ENG: This movie follows in the footprints of the original from June 2012.
Long, boring but interesting. It expains to some dergee how the cars work and some of the upgrades done, for example the forward/reverse-wiring and the cooling.
Don't understand why anybody would have negative comments at all. This hobby is your personal thoughts in motion!! It's am awesome build, it's different but that what makes it unique! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Frank Chapa I concur and it blows me away how stupid some of these peoples comments are! Some can't comprehend what it took to build this awesome machine but it does make me laugh when some comments are like the one that states "It's to loud" or "I rather use a battery than carry gas".
I am just blown out of the water by this creation & the thought process with your project. Well executed!
A real rock crawler with a radiator, and a functional transmission shifter. That's crazy
Nice work! First "Nitro-electric" vehicle I've ever seen. :D
Thank you!
This is hands down one of the coolest builds I've seen, would be awesome to see an update on this.
so amazing! love the radiator. very smart smart ideas comes together in this build! i just drive electric in rc, but this is so awesome!!!
Pretty sweet to hear the upgrades keep comming! It's a great build you guys did, pretty damn awesome!
4:34 it's very cool how the chassis matches the jeep style so perfectly. At a still frame I would have guessed it was a real vehicle, just shrink the size and make it sound exactly like you would expect. Definitely the most real, looking and sounding crawler I've seen.
Thumbs up and subbed! Awesome job. Truly amazing. Only thing it can use (doesnt need) is maybe the tamiya bruiser 3spd.
Huge respect!! My kind of modelling!! I really love the way how you did it!!
That’s a freaking fantastic build guys, it’s quite ingenious how you accomplished everything, especially the water cooling system, generator etc. Awesome truck 😎👍👍👍
This is pretty amazing. Deserves more recognition
Your Scientists Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didn't Stop To Think If They Should.
😜👌🏽
pure genious.
Craftman at work here.!!! Nice first hybrid i should say.nice job bro
im currently working on a version of this for a boat. I have made some modifications, I added a remote glow driver and im using a high torque 540 motor direct drive as a starter/generator so i can remote start it, the 540 motor pulls 50a to start it and gets hot fast, but its generally only on for a few seconds at a time so its ok. with the nitro engine at full throttle it only puts out around 7v so im going to use a booster to charge the 3s battery. im only using a .12 engine so im not expecting more than 40 watts.
Amazing bit of engineering there
Just how cool is that? If you could tune it to sound like a mini V8 with twin pipes and my little world is complete. Top job on the RCs and the videos
Yeah i am in with a V8 Nitro sound! I dont like the "single" sound.
This is a super clean build. If it wasnt water cooled would it overheat?
i know i'm 9 years late, but this is just so damn cool 😎
What is actually turning the spur gear? The electric motor right? The gas engine is only powering the "generator" right? Thanks
That's badass. Seems like electric start controlled from the tx would be the next step. Not that it's necessary but we rc guys are always looking for more.
Man, you've sorted out SO many problems I had with a build I did! Makes me want to try again! I never put my build on my channel...cause,well...it sucked lol! This one though... You did it right! Would love to discuss details with you and build my own!
The best I have ever seen. You are a true innovator of this design. Kudos!!!
Very nice and like the real thing. How much does it weigh?
Very cool build , but why just put a centrifugal clutch on the nitro engine ? Not enough torque ?
Awesome work creating this truck, does it have drag brake?
probably just a small brake on a shaft. like the slash I believe
WoW !! Superb Projet and good video !! Thumb Up !!
Nice lookin and sounds Great!! New sub 👍 . Thank you for sharing.
Kudos, nice rig.. I just had the idea of trying a nitro scx... cheers mate! you have done better than I can at the moment..
This is very nice work and really fun too watch
I applaud your dedication. Very fine work sir.
Its not the best performing car for sure but probably the weirdest/coolest one ive ever seen GREAT JOB! I love custom builds especially if they are not for performance but for simple fun factor ;]
Hybrid? Lower crawling speeds electric higher revs Nitro? I dont understand when work the Nitro and when the electric motor. I know only the Toyota Hybrid system Petrol /electric motor connected via Auto Transmission.
so the gas motor is hooked up to the drivetrain still right?
Now that's acool rc for sure thump up buddy nice job
wow weigth this rig !!!! that awsome !!! it 's the segond ybrid rc I see , and it's really bright !!!! thumps for sure
So your has motor is generating the power to run the electric motor yes?
Great project. Do you sell any of your work? I am interested in purchasing something like this.
That’s sick bro. Where did u get the water pump and radiator I’m trying to water cool a electric motor
You probably can find the pump on eBay. The radiator is home made.
this is pretty much how a modern diesel-electric train engine works..
wow you just built a prius of off-roading LOL.... awesome idea man
I like it as im going to be building something similar. I'm not going to be using the relays though. I'm just going to use a normal esc for forward and reverse and use the generator to provide power to the esc. It will in the end require less wires and increase reliability.
my brain isn't working correctly, so what drives the wheels? is it another motor that gets the voltage from the transformer that drives the wheels and also modulates the speed of the motor?
Here some "schematics"...
Nitro engine > Brushless generator > 3 phase rectifier > electronic switching for forward/neutral/reverse > Brushed traction-motor > Wheels
The more you rev the nitro engine, the more voltage you get to the traction motor.
Var ifrån kommer ni
Alltså i Sverige typ stad
Do you sell this rc truck?? It's very nice!
Nice build! What’s the average run time before it gets toasty ?
I think thats a lot of work just to make it a nitro. Whats the whole point behind it? How much does that thing weight like 15 pounds?
better than an electric with its alternator..
but how much weight is a good question
Why don't you just get a bigger ending and connect it to the drive shaft
Now that's impressive. Thumbs up for sure! Great job on this.
now that's outside the box thinking for sure, shame you cant get a deep 4 stroke sound, like thumper style, thumbs up for taking on something so complex .I have trouble believing the more reliable than electric comment @ the end though, really how can you get more reliable than electric?
Still awesome job guy's :0)
build video?
Is this rig still running?? do you have any newer videos??
Not been running for at least 6 months, no new videos. Sorry.
This thing kicks ass btw 👍👍👍
This is the coolest crawler I have ever seen. Electric is so lame. I'm glad someone has done this
I love it, been looking around youtube for someone that has made a nitro trail truck, cooler then I though it could of been, maby add a drag brake some how unless if I didn't notice that maby it has one, love it.
Pretty bummed out that you stopped uploading
what tire / rim set up is that
Sick truck dude
Hello, Burnet.. Very impressing job. Compare to Nitro+ccvt gearbox, your solution is much reliable. I would like to make one for my wraith.
But I am not sure about the AC-DC part. Could you please kindly provide more description about this part? Thank you very much indeed.
Locke
+Locke Huang Thank you!
I don't know if there is more info to add really, but any way...
The AC/DC part is a 3-phase full wave rectifier that makes the AC from the generator to DC for the traction motor. The forward/reverse is basically done by reversing positive and the negative wires to the traction motor, but through relays. Basic electronics..
"Nitro engine > Brushless generator > 3 phase rectifier > electronic switching for forward/neutral/reverse > Brushed traction-motor > Wheels"
+Burnet1989 Thanks for the reply. I watched your video and instructions clusters of times. Maybe i have got the principles.
For the 3 Phase Bridge Rectifier, basic schematic is OK. I will choose MBR4060(40A/60V).
For the output voltage to the traction motor:
Pure principle output voltage without loading:(RPM=31000, KV=3800)
=31000/(3800/0.95)*1.35=10.5V
So, it looks there is prefect and smooth voltage curve to feed the traction motor. Anyway, your .07 nitro engine, is very rear to purchase. I find only in Sweden is on sale. I asked my friend in Sweden to ship 2 for me.
I think maybe we can use other same horse power nitro engine, for instance the .15 or .18 which are more common to find, and couple with lower KV alternator. Just need to fill with the formula above.
For the forward/reverse, from the video, you are using two 12V40A for the vehicles.
Now, I am thinking about the gearbox, you are using RC4WD 2-speed one. I have same one on my Wraith. I am considering to use a 2 speed + 4/2WD gearbox or a new CVT gearbox which is made by a Chinese RC shop(Ratio: 1:9.8~1:61.4).
You did a very nice job and provided a particular solution. I will try to implement this in next 2 years. I hope to get your support. Thank you indeed.
Locke
+Locke Huang You seems to have it figured out! Nice!
The tricky part is to find the right KV on the generator together with the turns of the traction motor, the transmission gearing and wheel size.
It's all about "stall-speed" (in automatic gearbox terms...) on the total transmission.
You have to get it right in the revband on the engine to get the car drivable at all. To low stall-speed and it will not rev up, to high and it will rev and you don't get any power to the wheels.
The SH.07 is very low on bottom end torque, keep that in mind.
Trail and error! You will probably end up going through a bunch of generators and traction motors before you find whats best for your rig. I've probably have gone through at least 5 generators and some different traction motors.
Keep me updated!
+Burnet1989 Thanks for the kindly reminder. I will keep aligning with your part list in the first build. I can image you had tried lots of combination among nitro engine, generator and traction motor. Not like the formula, there might be no linear relationship between them.
From this video, 1st gear looks still very fast. it is already 1:20 as your gear ratio. I do not plan to use RC4WD 2-speed gear box but "HPI Wheely King / 1:7.4 Ratio Reduction Gear Box" + "1:2+1:1, 4/2WD" gear box. So my 1st gear is 1:14. 2nd gear is same with yours, 1:7. I think 4/2 WD drive is very interesting. I will tune and decide to choose 27T or 35T as my traction motor. You know wraith is 2.2 inch wheels and I will use full metal components.
I hope I could finish this in next 2 years. I will update with you here. I am really appropriate for your help!
Locke
Hi Locke Huang....have you not finish with the project...its been 2 years now.
Can anyone refer me to a link where I can buy one of these?
That thing is amazing! the one thing I am wondering, how did you build the radiator?
The radiator is an aluminium heat sink for DIY electronics. A sealed backplate is added with inlet an outlet for water. Simple.
You selling it?
O M G great job man! nice video, badass truck... haha u did it NITRO AXIAL SCX10!
Efficiency?
so, whats wrong with making a full nitro scx10? not a nitro-electric one?
that is a real question btw...
good job on the trucks though... absolutely genius!!
This could be the first ever hybrid RC car!
This is awesome. Nice work bro
How do I buy one
WOW! may i ask...are you an adult...student? very expensive, and time consuming. just impressive well thought out. thank you for sharing.
how did u make it to have the reverse
gilberto Medrano He has a set of switches activated by a servo that control the polarity of the power going to the drive motor
Wow! That is the coolest thing I've ever seen 😳👍😃
First nitro trail truck I have ever seen
work just like a locomotive
This is awesome.
Kick ass. You know your rc 👍🏻🇺🇸
I love that radiator
How much would you charge to build a brand new version?
This is unbelievable!
very cool, looks scale as hell !
Like it! Would like to see some trailing videos at reduced speed to see some more of the body movement and terrain. Something to play with! Nice rig and congrats!
A hybrid, frikkin nice!
***** Take a look at this! Not a big fan of nitro Rc's, but this one is one amazing build!
Where can i buy this
You can't buy this. You have to build it yourself.
Very cool hybrid.
Is it for sale!?! Lol
Like, share, and subscribe to your channel! That is awesome rig!
Wow just wow sick jeep man
makes me wish I thought of it. good job
Amazing job :)
Nitro Electric Hybrid,nice!
wow dude that's amazing
Sick man!
That's so unrealistic you have a combustion engine and batteries. A real jeep doesn't have... oh wait... it DOES have a battery and electronics! Genius, could say it's a hybrid.
nice jeep. can you submerge that to water too?
thats cool but you need some better tires for sure
so its a electric car with an onboard generator
Basically, you are correct.
Very cool

Wow that must be heavy
