- The Orlando Magic held their 2022 NBA Draft Party at Amway Center tonight. I head over to take a spin around the arena, take a picture with the draft lottery ball and take a rare tour around the Magic locker room, practice court, gym and training facilities before the Magic select Paolo Banchero with the #1 pick.

Very cool video here as I enjoyed it a lot. It brings back great memories as I used to live in Orlando in my early 20's (1992-1994) and a big time Magic fan also then. I even ushered for the Orlando Sports Complex for a year and a half (doing Magic games, concerts, football games at the Citrus Bowl, etc.) and it was a lot of fun. I saw Shaq warm up before games as we checked in and waited to goto our sections before the game. (Nick Anderson, Jeff Turner, Scott Skiles, etc.) It's a shame Shaq left for the Lakers, broke my heart then. But Kobe was there, Phil Jackson too. Shaq said he wanted to do movies too and LA was more convenient. So off he went.
The movie Blue Chips (1994, starring Nick Nolte) was really big than in Orlando as it helped bring Shaq and Penny Hardaway together as teammates as the Magic saw their great chemistry together on and off the court. Penny was very good. He got hurt and slowed him down, but he was very good. I miss Little Penny, lol, remember him?? LOL. Where did Little Penny go?? :)

Question , how did u get to go into the locker room and training area? Any extra charge or just a tour?
The tour cost money and was offered same day of the draft on the Magic app. I can't remember what it cost at this point though.

@@tylertheretophiliac I honestly have no idea. I usually park in random lots downtown. The Magic socials or website would be better sources of info.

Sorry to tell you that until the Orlando Magic have ownership more interested in winning instead of just making money for themselves they will never be a contender. Having had season tickets the 1st fifteen years, I've witnessed 1st hand that when Rich DeVos and family purchased the team, that they lowballed Shaq, shrunk the seat sizes, raised all the prices, hired a hockey guy as GM, and did nothing to contribute to building a winning team. The Amway way is not the way to Championship Basketball. It's too bad since I'll always consider Orlando home. Thanks for the always interesting posts about Central Florida.
