Last year I saw an ad in my local (Philadelphia PA) newspaper advertising Elhew pointers. Having never heard of them, I was intrigued, thinking it was some new breed that had just gained AKC acceptance or was on the verge of it. A bit of internet research set me straight. I don't hunt but can appreciate the vision of Mr. Wehle in developing this strain, as I love when someone has the dedication to enhance an already existing specialty of any breed of animal to reach its pinnacle. I am saddened that it will be no more. It is a loss of something too few people even knew existed. I wish Mr. Doherty much success in nurturing this bloodline.
Thank you Mr. Fuller. This was a fantastic 2 part series. I had to listen very closely to Craig a few times to follow the genetics of the strain. I now totally understand why dedicated breeders use OFA and CHIC Certification. I truly hope you have a protégé to pass on your dedication and knowledge of Upland Hunting. God bless.
I recently purchased an English pointer from a breeder in Iowa, on the pedigree says the sire’s parents were elhew bloodline. The dam wasn’t of elhew stock.
Just watched part 1 and 2, back-to-back. Those are some fine dogs. Excellent structure and seemingly, quite intelligent!
