As technical as these races are, as good as the sailors are; the laser is in anything below 14 to 15 kn of wind such unexciting boat seen from inside and outside of the boat. As much as the laser has given to Competitive sailing within the last 50 years, it’s time to move on.
I agree I understand that to be an Olympic class it needs numbers and lasers are popular due to price, ease to learn and being singlehanded. But at some point you have to wonder why we don’t have boats like 49ers or Sharpies or something more exciting to watch at the olympics, if this is meant to be the pinnacle of sailing surely they can at least handle a kite and a bit of speed.
