    I like that you seem to genuinely want to help your fellow human kind just for the sake of helping, not because there's anything in it for you, but just because it's right... everything from giving employees who may not deserve it a second or third or forth chance, to giving away a product you believe in when you're around to do the job... I wish more people in every field operated that way... good on ya!

    Business ethics should be modeled after this man every video I've seen with him. Yes Yes he's there to make money but he does it ethically. He's not calling people he's not taking shortcuts. He's not pushing products he doesn't believe in. I'm not saying every company needs to give things away for free but it shows the character of the man and how he runs his business.

    Giving it away free actually makes a lot of sense. Not only is it serving your customers, but getting rid of those fats, oils and greases can avoid you getting a 3am call about a tank backing up. I am on septic, and if you were near my area, I would definitely use your company to service my tank.

    I used to rinse everything down the drain until it completely clogged my drain line. NOW every pan gets wiped out with paper towels before I wash them. A 10' section of 2" PVC pipe clogged solid with solid grease was a real chore to clean out. When I had the tank pumped out recently you could see a layer of grease on top of the liquid. I came close to ruining my drain field. I dodged a bullet there.

    Lived with and cared for my Grandmother for over a decade. She used Septic Savior every month like clockwork on her septic, following the directions on the label (flush down toilet at night right before going to bed to minimize "washout", use a different toilet each month if possible). She didn't get her tank pumped for over 25 years, and when she passed away and the family sold the house, the buyer immediately ordered septic pumping. The company that arrived asked why they were called out, the tank was in such good condition.
    So yes, certain tank additives do work quite well.

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      you might be amazed at how that "good condition" may be more related to a septic built for a 3-4 bedroom home but only being used by a single person, who plays by the rules of no grease (and other bad stuff) in the system. IOW, a lower laundry load and no feminine products will greatly extend the time between pumps. My kids moved out 20 years ago and we go 10 years on a pump that shows a rather light condition, per the driver.

      @@rupe53 That's precisely why I mentioned it. I am by no means trying to sell Septic Savior, and I do not have any sort of personal or professional relationship with them. I'm simply saying it worked for my Grandmother's septic system even when doing things you shouldn't (such as food scraps), so there's probably something to it.
      Septic additives sometimes work, when used as directed. Most people don't use as directed, and no one ever calls a septic pumping service unless something has already gone wrong, so I can excuse James Butler for believing they do nothing - he's not seeing the systems of all the people who properly maintain them.

    I recently purchased a bottle of this directly from the company. I think it's incredibly nice of you to give a free bottle to each customer, this stuff is NOT cheap by any stretch!!! I'm just hoping to keep down the 'slow drain' I recently developed in the kitchen sink that I fully believe was from fat/oil/grease and had me removing the P-trap for a full clean-out. This is the second recommendation for Bio One I've seen from a plumber or septic tech, so I'm cautiously optimistic! Thank you for the video!

      Did it work?

    • @Sudz28
      @Sudz28 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NathanielStorm Nope. So far as I can determine, this stuff is completely useless. I even tried an off-the-cuff experiment where I added some BioOne to a ramekin glass dish that previous held bacon grease; I had scooped out as much grease as possible but of course there was barely a little left clinging to the glass that you could still see. After adding the BioOne and letting it sit until it completely evaporated away, there was no discernible difference in the small amount of bacon fat left in the dish. I expected it to dissolve at least some, if not all, of the grease but it didn't look like it did anything. As far as my pipes go, I used it as directed until it was all gone but the pipe still slowly get buildup of FOG from normal cooking activities. Now I can't see what it *may* be doing to any floating FOG in the actual septic tank itself, but from what I saw it is nothing more than magical thinking.

    As a septic cleaner and installer myself from texas , I run into the RIDX and Roebic K37 users. Only thing i have seen that at least looks like it is making a change in the septic is bakers yeast. Dissolve it in warm water to activate it and it will bake a pink crust in the septic tank. Not sure if it is doing anything but it does help with blocking sewer gas smells.

    First off, I appreciate the videos you make for TikTok and TH-cam. I have watched many of your videos in my anxiety over our septic system.
    I have a question about additives, but first a little info on my situation.
    My wife and I just purchased a home with a 30 year old septic system. We are vigilant about not putting stuff down the drain that is bad for the septic system. Our drain field has healthy lush grass growing over the lines and an inspection said it is time to replace. Basically, sewage water was dumping out the end of the pipes when we dug them out. We do not have ponding on the surface yet. I am just anxious about it. We are getting the 1250 gallon tank pumped out and the drain field terra lifted in a week to buy us some time to pay for a new system. We're having it pumped once a year and it is just the two of us living here.
    My question is: Can I add Bio-One or Dr Pooper (which I have been hearing a lot about) directly to the distribution box in order to help dissolve some of the biomat and buy us more time?
    I have been using leech field cleaners and Dr Pooper for a few months now. I don't see improvement because my septic is working fine right now. Am I just wasting money dumping these things down the drain hoping it will help?

    i have used engineered products during the 30 years i have worked in septic tank and field remediation As you say most will not hurt the tank .i use a combination of jet cleaning the lines from the house first as the good products tend to break the sludge loose in chunks that can and do plug the line to the tank .I have found the bacteria will bond to the inside walls of pipes and break off the buildup in slabs, these products usually give off CO2 as a byproduct of digestion so not much odor. In the case of septic outlet lines to field i also jet the line and pull the black sludge buildup into the tank this gives the aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in the additive to work on the existing sludge and eventually work into the field PS too many people think enzymes are the answer. One of the Worst stopped up drain line calls I’ve ever been on in my 30yrs as a plumber was a kitchen drain that took over 6hrs of running a machine down a kitchen stack to get it draining. Talk about a sink that never missed a drop of grease in its 40yrs of existing. The line from the kitchen all the way to the main tail out was so stopped up with nasty grease all we could get down the line from our machine was just the cable only! No head would cut the amount of grease this lady had washed down her sink! We would run the cable down the line as far as we could get it then retrieve it with piles of just nasty grease falling off the cable, back and forth back and forth. We would punch a hole through the it and it would collapse when retrieving the cable! Still gives me nightmares to this day!!!

    Sounds like a decent product. I live and I camping trailer where I flush my septic about once a week. But it work fast enough to be an advantage there? Any advice would be appreciated thanks bud

    P.S.A. place aluminum foil into the shape of your sink drain. Pour your grease into that cup shape and after it cools dispose in trash.

      I save used wide-mouthed jars, glass or plastic. When I have some grease to get rid of I pour it into the jar and stick it in the freezer. Next day I throw it in the trash.

      In my house we put paper towel in a paper plate and strain grease into that. Put in fridge to solidify and throw in the trash.

    There are a huge number of things that differ vastly between countries, but I think one of the most diverse is how countries deal with their human waste.
    America, at least the area James lives/works in (is it classed as rural, semi-rural???) is very different to the UK, and both are different to where I live in Thailand.
    In the vast majority of the UK all sewage goes into underground sewers, ends up in a treatment centre and is dealt with there. A lot of the water is treated the same way. Even in rural villages, it's dealt with centrally not individually. Most cesspits/sewage tanks are only found in isolated or very remote areas.
    Where I live in Thailand all sewage goes into individual sewage tanks that are emptied when necessary, there is no land area to break down the waste. Bath and kitchen water goes into common drains and is processed by the local authority. Due to the high consumption of pork many homes have a fat sieve under the sink that catches the fat. Interestingly, or not, most people don't have hot water to wash their dishes, we use cold water.

    Cigarette buds are bad too. Every time I found solids in the finger field it's grease and Cigarette buds. Solids in the fingers usually means your system is screwed.

    Never heard of BioOne before so went and looked, now you've mentioned it. Looks like it comes in a 64oz bottle for $60-80 depending on where you buy it, nearly (or over) $1/oz... how much are you giving away? Sheesh... knew you were generous, but wow. Hope you're getting some kind of bulk discount.
    And now I have a question... would this product be a good alternative even for people on sewer system who just want to clear out fat buildup in their pipes? I'm looking mainly at the kitchen and shower drains, where I seem to have regular issues with this...

    • @Swiat34
      @Swiat34 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lye based drain cleaner will be better for clearing your pipes. Lye turns fat into soap, water dissolves soap. Then, change habits be not letting grease down the drain.

    Will Bio one work with city waste water. Just to clean grease out of the pipes in the house to the sewer main? We get a lot of sewer calls and this is a close second for the sewer to back up with flushable wipes being first.

    Bacteria doesn't exist in your gut because you don't need it. Your body loves fats and has all it needs to deal with it. However, you're 100% right about people flushing fats down the drain. That needs to be absolutely minimized.

    Would this help Stan apartment complex? When I moved into my apartment both my bathtub and kitchen sink were clogged and backed up on the first day. They sent their maintenance guy and he asked me to boil 5gal of water. He dropped some crystal down both drains. He waited 5 minutes and splits the water on both clogs. Almost 2 years of no backups. Now I am about to hit my 3rd year and my bathtub backs up in less than 5 minutes. Kitchen sink I been getting anything with grease in disposable containers and throwing away. To the point I put aluminum foil at my sink and trap all cooked grease there then dumping in the trash once it solidifies

    People pour grease down the drain? I grew up in a house that my great grandfather built in 1922. We don’t have a septic tank, we have a sewer. My mom always taught me to never ever throw grease down the drain, never throw baby wipes down the drain, no female products, just toilet paper and not a lot. She even told me flushable wipes are bullshit which at the time I though she was nuts but then our plumber told us the same thing. I’ve never poured grease down a drain, never flush female products. A friend of my brothers girlfriend once flushed a tampon and it caused such a problem even after she had been told many times to not flush them. My mom was so angry that day…..

      it would be convenient for being able to pour bacon grease down the drain, but most of the fats in your septic tank come from what you flush down the toilet from your body

  • @csabszika

    True, however my professional experience (I am running hotel engineering) is that all the chemicals we flush down the drain will kill off bacteria.
    At the end of the day this becomes a race between bacteria multiplying on grease and dying off due to chemicals, hence an equilibrium will or will not be reached.
