This video made me cry like a baby. I had a major stroke in 2013 and since then I had not been confident enough to get and keep a job due to my speech. I always end up quitting when my training period is up. People say I talk fine with just a little speech impediment, but I am self conscious and am still self sabotaging myself. THIS STOPS TODAY!! I didn't know you were 48, that hit home for because I'm 28 and think that because I'm just now starting "MY LIFE" it's probably too late. It's never too late for you to use your gift(s) and everything up until now has made me wise enough to be here. It's not about what you have or where you are, it's your identity and who you become.
I'd heard that so many times before but this year my psyche accepted it on a whole new level. Most people think that success leads to more confidence and certainty. It's actually the opposite... you have to cultivate confidence and certainty in order to achieve success and THATS the identity you have to be obsessed with embodying. All the fear and pain, looking at it waiting for something or someone to take it away before I could be who I wanted to be? Negative. The fear and pain is exactly what I needed to walk towards willingly and frequently. My motto is if I'm afraid of something that's the first thing I need to confront. I was scared of academia and school because in highschool I was a whack student. So I decided to go back to school after 7 years of avoiding it, the semester ends in a week and I'm on track to have a 4.0 with my full load of classes.
I was afraid that living the life of my dreams would mean going without sex and comfort. Guess what that means? Yep. You already know. I became abstinent and gave up the things I was afraid of losing (sugar, hot showers, being introverted, all gone). I thought the comforts made me happy and protected me. They don't. It's the opposite. I've never been happier and more certain of where I'm headed because now I've cultivated my identity to being that person that does whatever it takes for however long I have to do it.
Remember the name Austin Bailey. You may hear about me in a few years but in about a decade everyone will know the name. Let's get it 🤙🏾
