"Wreck" Boating the Green!

- When two recreational kayakers abandoned their boats and hiked out above go-left I knew the boats couldn't call that beautiful gorge home and they needed to be paddled out. Eric Bartl and I stepped up to the plate and got-er- done. It wasn't pretty but that was one of the funniest green laps I've had in a long time if not ever. Don't try this. The Green River Narrows is dangerous and should only be attempted by experts with proper equipment.

I have one of those Perceptions. It's our floating down the Catawba with your feet in the water with a beer in your hand boat. I am the only whitewater boater in the family, so I still go rec boating quite often. They are surprisingly stable. If you flip... well you obviously know. I am surprised they make a skirt that fits it.

I'm disappointed you didn't run the Gorilla! I thought that's what those high-end Wally World "kayaks" were made for🤷 You would of had like a 10% chance of surviving, perhaps unmangled even!

I'm really surprised that the Sundolphin didn't explode on the way down! I've known quite a few people that take them just to the hiwassee and end up cracking or getting a huge hole in them!
I was amazed you were able to roll that boat even once! Was the skirt just blowing out whenever you flipped or was it just so hard to roll you didn't bother and swam it instead?
Regardless that was some seriously good boating skills to squeeze that junk through the narrows. I'm honestly glad the rec boaters gave up and left them. They would have killed themselves in the narrows.
I was pretty much just falling out if I flipped over. No secondary stability
@@MichaelFerraroIV balls of steel to have paddled that through the narrows though. Id have done the whole trip on my face in that boat (and probably ended up stuffed under a rock along the way!).
You should see if you can find an old White Brothers rotomolded kayak.

They probably were coming back for them at some point - how can they get them back? To them someone stole their boats! It's amazing how some folks (the rec kayakers) have no idea what they're getting into. So you guys must have left your boats behind up top as well.
chesky baba we hiked from the take out to get them. They apparently said they were not coming back for them either. Gave the sun dolphin away at the takeout and took the perception boat home 🤠
@@MichaelFerraroIV That's rather strange they would leave two perfectly good boats - makes you think they probably weren't theirs. Oh well. Made for a good video anyway.
