It’s clearly Yuri got attached to both Loid and Anya, that’s why he’s giving them nickname. He’s just in denial stage to accept the new family.

In those next chapter, Yuri knew where the two buses were and he went to find the other bus to fix the deadlock but he didnt know which of the two was the one with his chihuahua niece .So basically he thought he took a hit for anya in the second bus! He protected this bus thinking anya could be in it . I’m just dissatisfied that author let Yuri go to the wrong bus. I do hope he met Anya though since she didn’t knows Yuri has been worried for her in the entry arc. If Anya learn how her uncle went to find the bus , she sure will change her mind about him. I’m hope the latest arc still build a slight change of development in their relationship.

A second time that he actually started to care for Anya was in the light novel of spy x family (yes, it technically is cannon since Endo made the concept but just some else wrote it for him) Basically Yor couldn’t take care of Anya neither Franky so she called Yuri to do it for her. Yuri accepted it but he was still angry about it since he thought that he was going to spend time with his sister and not Anya. When Yuri came he was just sitting down and just looking at Anya the whole time. Anya gets bored obviously because she wants to play and not just sit around. Yuri suggest to study but she declined because she hates it so then Yuri decided to take her to a kid workshop so she would stop bothering him. Anya wanted to hold his hand but he was kinda disgusted about it but then later on he actually held Anya’s without even noticing. They go to eat after they were done acting a worker at a job, They start talking and Anya mentioned that she wanted to go to a jewelry workshop. Yuri declined since it was already getting late, Anya knows that Yuri can’t decline when it comes to his sister so Anya said “aw but I really want to make something for mama” Yuri tells her that will go after they eat.
