    You would be surprised on how many good athletes there are on campus who choose not to play in college.

      Yeah, one does have to get on with life which is what college should be about, college sports gets pretty serious these days so choices have to be made and the women don't really have the same end game guys do when playing sports.

      Former D1 athlete here. Many look the part, but once they get a shot to walk on simply can’t hang. There is a HUGE gap, at least on the men’s side, between those who ball out in intramurals but arent even close to the varsity squad. I cant count the number of guys who i heard say “i could run track” or “i could make the basketball team” but every time they got a shot they werent even close to being good enough. Reality is most of us with the shot to play college ball do. 99.9% of the students interested in sports but dont play in college simply arent good enough. Just speaking from my experience at at top 20 all-around D1 athletic department school.

      I was a d2 player who transferred to a d1 school. We had a bad injury situation and they invited walkons. I came out but was too out of shape, though I played scout team for a month or two. In shape, I probably could have been chief benchwarmer. Still it was crazy how much stronger and bigger the guys were who had my athleticism. The guys my size were way more athletic.

      Why would they? If they are not black, the odds of playing are slim and none! In women’s basketball, it’s not that way yet . I prefer women’s basketball because it’s entertaining without all the drama. Just let ‘em play as long as they are women! Color should have nothing to do with it!

    I'm rooting for this team to do well!
    It's nice to see the girls who weren't going to play ball in college now be able to play ball once again.
    A Sweet 16 spot in the March Madness tourney would be great for this team!

      I hear where you're coming from but a large majority of college sports are comprised of nothing but student athletes. It's obviously only the few that actually make money where you seem to be jaded. Let's be honest though, doesn't make a whole lot of sense that the schools get to profit so much off of their teams and not have to share some of the pie. At the end of the day, if a school's sport is turning a profit, the players deserve some of it.

    • @Roland2665
      @Roland2665 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will give you that anything with a player's name or face, the kids should get their share. But for playing the sport, they get a free education. Once you are paid to play, you are not an amateur anymore.

    When i was at Rice in the mid 90s the men’s team had about 5 injuries and had to take a couple walkons. I was working out with them but was too out of shape to just jump in. Oh, and school 😂

    I saw them play one weekend way earlier in Jan. I guess, before Sedona Prince got injured, and she impressed TF out of me, irony was I went there to check out Madison Conner. Now I feel like I should go support them yet again with their walkon situation

    Great story and Miami University 2023 NCAA TOURNEY Elite Eight starting point guard Haley Cavinder is on the team next year. Now if twin sister Hanna Cavinder opts to also play TCU is going to make some more winning news.

    Still haven’t heard exactly what the policy is on number of players needed on the roster? You only need 5 to play and I think they got down to 9 and forfeited. If so, the losses were self inflicted due to bad policy - the schools website just stated BS “health & safety” nonsense

  • @manegrindshard
    @manegrindshard ปีที่แล้ว

    That amount of injuries is unheard of ever. Replace the whole training staff something they're doing is incorrect.

    What an uplifting, awesome story of young girls, young Americans doing what Americans do: step up and give it their all when needed and do it the right way!! Totally pulling for this team of self-starters and doers as they continue this journey.
    (And then, the positive story is followed by Biden, representing the other part of the country, the lazy, the illegal, the bizarre, begging for money. What a contrast.)
