The first time I had seen Cornelia, was on some cleaning show. Cornelia's diagnosis is obvious. And I totally empathize with her-- knowing what it's like to live alone in a grand building chuck full of art and antiques; yet sadly, most all the people who want to "help" - really only wish to help themselves to a five-finger discount. There, she is absolutely NOT being paranoid.
Sheer insanity. One person trying to tackle a massive mansion AND the grounds? In its heyday the teams of people it must have taken to manage that estate to pristine condition must have been enormous.
Cornelia saved this incredible house single handedly. She wasn't the same person who started it, she was a flyer back in the day, this restoration has taken everything from her, sad that people just see her as a mad, scruffy old eccentric.
@@relocatetoEUROPE Then you have compassion and empathy, both things that people these days seem to be lacking. When I see dirt I see distress, when I see agressivity I see depression and sadness. Cornelia is locked into a cycle of denial and seeing the huge stock of clothes she has kept I imagine that she pends a lot of time in the past also. God bless
The home is beautiful. The stairway is breathtaking. Crazy how she had all those gowns. And the old boyfriend who still pays all the bills, wow! What a nice person.
Yes, some people love supporting those who have Vision, and luckily her old friend seems to be one of those people. Here are more recent developments: As part of Bayley’s vision, the National Trust purchased the estate, which included the parkland and walled garden, whilst Plas Teg and its contents are to be bequeathed to the National Trust by Bayley on her death.
This is from 2010 so pre obsessive compulsive cleaners. Remember this is one person who envisioned and architeched all this and she is now a pensioner so be kind. A house of this size would have had 40+ staff not one lady seeing to it all! What a beautiful collection of clothes, and a deeper look into the rooms. I think she should have kept the clothing and made a feature of the 1840's silks as there are so few extant silk gowns
I'm completely impressed by the restorations Cornelia has lovingly accomplished and by her lovely interesting collections. I hope we will all see shows and movies filmed at this treasure in the future. Hopefully this interesting woman will meet more people she feels she can trust as she ventures into sharing her lovely Jacobian castles with others. Wish I could visit and meet the owner of this national treasure someday. Can you imagine having a wedding at this amazing location someday? Dreamy.

Thank you Cornelia for rescuing it. It's now time for others to step in to provide support. Welcome these wonderful volunteers. Bless you!
Seems to have done well enough with good reviews in 2020 and 2021. Found this published 4th May, 2021 in The National Wales: "As part of Bayley’s vision, the National Trust purchased the estate, which included the parkland and walled garden, whilst Plas Teg and its contents are to be bequeathed to the National Trust by Bayley on her death. In 2013, out of the Friends of Plas Teg Love My Wales was founded and worked with Bayley to develop her vision for the house and gardens to bridge the gap between National Trust handover. To coincide with Cornelia Bayley's 80th birthday earlier this year, it’s name was changed to the Plas Teg Trust."
Thank you for the information! This house impressed me more than any I have seen. It is truly magnificent in its proportions, abundant windows and surrounding gardens. Cornelia's taste in furnishing it is unsurpassed. No wonder she fell in love with it. I'm so happy to learn that the "right" thing happened in terms of ownership. I hope the National Trust is worthy of it.
OMG I'm in love with that house!!!! And Cornelia, wow!! Someone needs to make a movie about how she bought the house and all her years of bringing it alive - that house is truly alive!!! Such an astounding story!!! If I weren't across the pond, I'd instantly move in, write books and make movies there - love stories, thrillers, a romantic, non violent Dracula love story, a story of how a little girl and her little brother climb into their doll house that becomes a real fantasy house and they meeting others from other doll houses lol, a story told from the perspective of the cats lol, a Bette Davis remake ... the sky is the limit!!!

Just a gorgeous cat that adds that Adams family feel to the Country House. Just loved how in character the cat is! He would be just perfect for the movie sets! He could be a new kitty start!

I bought a one hundred year old, eight bedroom farmhouse on my own and of course had to have a lot of paid help to remodel it and keep it up, as well as doing much of the work myself. During the 8 years I owned it, I was practically robbed blind. A diamond pendant on a gold chain went missing pendant went missing. Another gold necklace was taken. Tools went missing. Even some of my clothes and bottles of perfume disappeared. One woman stayed in my house to take care of my pets while I was away, someone I thought was a friend, held a garage sale in my garage and sold off some of my belongings, keeping the money for herself. She sold my Christmas ornaments! She even took some of my things to a pawn shop! At the that point the sheriff was called. Two car loads of the stolen effects were discovered at her house and brought back to me by the sheriff. Of course, this "friend" told the sheriff that I'd given her these things. The other stuff I'll never see again because she sold it. Luckily, as I was remodeling every room in the house, I'd taken a lot of before and after photos. I was able to look thru them and see what was no longer there and was able to show these to the sheriff. I totally get where Cornelia is coming from on that score so I don't blame her for not trusting people.

National Trust has purchased it, it’s having restoration work done, it was probably closed during the lockdown but I think it’s been reopened. This was a success story!
There's a lot Cornelia is not divulging. Why would an ex boyfriend of 20 years pay her bills? Maybe they have an agreement that he gets Plas Teg if she passes before him? What are the property taxes every year? It doesn't make sense?
I am surprised they haven't plucked out all of their feathers or attacked one another. Yummy treats do not make up for a good diet, fresh air and sunshine!

Maybe Charles of Wales was paying her bills, she's similar to Camilla
“I don’t like meeting people that I don’t know.”

LOL----yeah she could use someone like you in her life
Looking for a work visa, are we?
She is a nice lady... and kudos to the ex. Just lovely.
she has no ex-lover; cornelia is crazy. per wikipedia, british historial socieiteis pay for everything
And ironically enough I think I might have seen this house in a music video
Fascinating.
Animal welfare should be called for those poor birds, it's awful how she keeps them. Really sad for them.
This 'Country House' is amazing. The show, Abode, was downright deceitful when filming back in the day! 'Janet', the local volunteer gathered 15 locals!🤣 They were all paid for this show! The house is amazing just the same. Too bad it's closed now.
National Trust has purchased it, it’s having restoration work done, it was probably closed during the lockdown but I think it’s been reopened. This was a success story!
What does the guy from the vintage dress shop have on his head? A muskrat?
There's a lot Cornelia is not divulging. Why would an ex boyfriend of 20 years pay her bills? Maybe they have an agreement that he gets Plas Teg if she passes before him? What are the property taxes every year? It doesn't make sense?
Who might be her son's father?
If ex boyfriend is rich it may seem like very little to keep her more comfortable.
Exactly.
On her death, it goes to the National Trust.
@@rodandjudibowen5665 None of your business.
Cornelia and her house were in another show where two complulser's cleaners tried to help her.
Appalling conditions for those poor parrots. RSPCA where are you?
I am surprised they haven't plucked out all of their feathers or attacked one another. Yummy treats do not make up for a good diet, fresh air and sunshine!
@@rodandjudibowen5665 what does it tell you then seeing them in glowing colours?
@@mimibergerac7792 That they are getting the right foods -- for THAT!
I feel bad about their ramshackle, dirty, cobwebby cage and surroundings.
@@happydays1336 Me too! She calls them "family". Who would treat their family so badly???!!!!! Cornelia is nuts (no pun intended).
Looks like a hoarder to me. Hope before pandemic hit, she got a grip on selling some of those clothes, books, and other wares.
I watched this year's ago yet it was posted 4 months ago. Interesting.
Respect, Cornelia ❤️
I can see that she is very beautiful, especially her younger self. She’s one of those socialite who enjoys living in the lap of luxury, hence struggled when she got to do her own things.
THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK
Beautiful house although respect to Cornelia.
At least it seems clean
Cornelius is such a likable and has a beautiful smile all the time. Just love her personality.😍😘
I am Cornelia. My ex helps pay my bills. I am eccentric as all living.....scads and scads and scads of clothing I have collected over the years, and fabric and trinkets. I get freaky deekey when people are in my house. I completely understand her.
25:00 I feel like those people are just hired as extras. They couldn't look more bored and uninterested..
85K is chum change in today's American real estate.
But it probably wasn't when she borrowed it.
