    As someone asked for the template of the knife, I've uploaded it to my website. I'm sure you wouldn't want to use my design but if you like the profile of the knife then you can use that with your own internal design. Print the knife at 100% size to make a knife the same size as mine or scale it to suit.
    You can find it here paskmakes.com/plans/

      I actually loved the knife profile, thanks

      the design would look more consisten if you make the surface of the blade also hollow (mayb add the work PASK on the Blade and the rest on the handle)

    Tape on the back of the sandpaper is such a clever idea. Love your videos, I've watched a dozen or so over the last week.

    Your sense of proportion is really top notch. That’s something that can’t easily be trained you just have to have the eye for it. I’ve seen a lot of custom knives - an old girlfriend of mine was a high end knife maker and, in the world of tactical knives especially, proportion is probably the most important design element. Your knife is fantastic and I really admire the careful hours you put into it. It’s cool that the TH-cam channel has made it possible for you to make money on a project like this. These days craftsmanship this meticulous in the knife world are reserved for a handful of people at the top who have tens of thousands into their equipment and branding. Or to the few, poor, dedicated smiths that do it for the calling. The quiet dignity you experienced when filing and sawing and sanding is heavily underrated and undervalued in the modern age. Chasing that feeling is what my life is about!
    Kudos!

    • @PaskMakes
      @PaskMakes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks very much for that! I am very lucky that I'm allowed to spend my time doing these kind of projects for a living, I honestly do realise that. I agree entirely that the processes in this project is where the enjoyment of making is, at least for me anyway! :)

    I'm really glad to see you make this piece the old fashion way and not on a CNC machine like a lot of makers are using these day. Anything made on a CNC machine just cannot be called "handmade". Of course if your in production mode for a big profit CNC's are useful. Really nice work here!

    I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. If you have not seen it, Knew Concepts makes fret and coping saws with a unique tensioning device. It's possible to put so much tension on the blade that you can snap it, but you can also tension it so that there is very little flex.

    if I make a suggestion, you can print inverse of the image with dark lines on a laser printer and than spray adhesive the print to the work piece ink side down. the key is to than soak and wipe the paper off. the toner with transfer to the adhesive.

    • @PaskMakes
      @PaskMakes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

I hit 47 on the 13th, so I feel you on the "getting older" front. When I visit my 97 year old grandfather, I realize that "young" and "old" are all states of mind. No.., you're not crazy, listening to a good book, one could quickly get in the zone and time is no longer a factor. For something that's only piece, there is a lot more time and effort gone into this knife than something with scales, bolster etc, a lot of intricate work gone into it and it shows.
    It doesn't matter if you're shoveling sheep manure as long as you are enjoying the task, your work ethic and attitude towards going the extra mile is infectious. Keep up the great videos, I have binged watched all your uploads, found them to be very enjoyable and relaxing.
    BTW.. Have a great Birthday young man.

    As a maker I know there is always a tendency to think/know you could have a done a better job. That is what drives improvement and it is a great trait in the realm of creativity. But, man! You can sure make a ton of cool things and regardless of how complex it may actually be, you do such a good job of making it all seem straight forward and attainable. Thanks for everything you have done and continue to do. Pure genius!

    Beautiful job sir.
    Not sure if I have the patience for the hand filing.
    Recently, I was faced with the task of filing the inside shapes of an eight-spoke flywheel for a Stirling engine. What I did, was to adapt my cheap scroll saw to accept junior hacksaw blades. I then used strong double-sided tape to stick some emery cloth to the blades and used the contraption as a make-shift die filer.
    It ran a bit fast, but worked surprisingly well.
    Love your methods, where you use left-overs and stuff lying around to make worthwhile projects.
    Happy Birthday. I got to 60 in May. My brain still tells me that I am 18, my body disagrees...
