Great explanation on the older models. I have a 2007 Volvo Gi-G motor. ECM # 3818613. New rebuilt Jasper motor installed this winter. Weird problem started at idle. After its warmed up (around 10 minutes) The idle will start to incrementally rise until it hits 1300 rpm then stop and stay there. If I stop the motor for 10 seconds and restart it... It goes right back to 650 rpm for another 10 minutes or so then climbs again. My shop scanned it with the Rinda tool and no DTC codes. All parameters normal. Test TPS didn't help. Runs perfect at speed. vacuum test ok, fuel pressure high/low ok. Replaced IAC Valve, TPS, T-Map, ECT Sensor, precautionary. Battery terminals cleaned & 12.6v, alternator is new with 14v charging, Block ground has zero resistance, Cleaned ECM pins and plug as well as mounting surfaces & hardware. Nothing helps. Before pulling the trigger on a super expensive ECM to swap & see if it follows.... Do you have any words of wisdom or things to possibly check.
