I use the provisional tubular cast on by JenAcKnit on TH-cam. It’s the only one I understood.
Use a mercerized cotton to cast on.

awesome! my mom just asked the same question this morning. It is a slub yarn held with a suri alpaca. The texture comes from the slub bits.
