  • Recently I went to an amazing little town outside of Beijing. This little town was called Gubei Water Town and it is nestled at the base of the Simatai section of the Great Wall of China. In this little town they have some fantastic light shows, steam foot baths, and lots of little shops and restaurants. They even have an ice playground! You have to check this place out if you come to Beijing and have some time to spend at the Great Wall.

      You have a real talent. A nice blend of visuals and discussion. I have been missing China and your videos have filled a void. I hope you continue to make them, and fingers crossed I will be able to get back to China by the end of the year.

    A not-so-fun fact, this place happened to be the very ground where a pitched battle was fought during the 1933 Battle of the Great Wall, between the invading Japanese army and Chinese garrison at the time, with over 40k casualty in the end. It's hard to imagine it has become such a beautiful tourist spot nowadays!

      I had no idea. That is a not so fun fact. It would be so hard to believe seeing it now. Wow. Thanks for sharing that.

    The reason l like your video, is, its a slow pace n your editing is smooth, explanation is thorough n your pleasant voice n choice of words, not as chaotic as many others, where l get headaches just watching them talking so fast, switching sceneries n rushing here n there n noisy! Yours is quiet n music is just right for the occasion/sceneries! Top notch!!!! Well done!🙏👍🇨🇳

    It's so smart to use drone lantern to replace real sky lantern that may cause huge fire in the forest.

    Where are your gloves and your hat?!! How are you not freezing? I grew up in this climate and I'm cold looking at you! That ice house is really pretty. I feel like it could be from a scene in The Nutcracker. I love the floating lanterns! They do that in DC, but I've never taken the time to go.

    Awesome! I‘d love to come there next winter 😊 in 2019 we had been to a small village close to Mutiyanju section because Gubei was booked out. 😕 Did you film this vlog on the ZV-1? Have a great day

    • @JohnThomasAbroad
      @JohnThomasAbroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Yes I got the Sony ZV-1. It’s a great vlogging camera though I do struggle with looking in the camera lens rather than the monitor which is off to the side. But I’m getting used to it. Used the Canon before but the sound quality on this camera is far superior in my opinion.
