- Oakland police said there was sideshow activity at 66th Avenue and Coliseum Way, involving about 100 vehicles, and another shortly afterward involving about 50 vehicles at Edes Avenue and Hegenberger Road.

What you see is people using the lowest brain function. The human brain has three main parts: 1) cerebrum for rational and creative thinking (communication and higher intelligence); 2) cerebellum responsible for voluntary movements, coordination, balance, posture and cognition; 3) the brain stem, the most basic part, sometimes called the reptile brain.

After watching cars go around repeatedly, I expected the first cop car to start drifting as well.

When the only thing they have in life is this wasteful use of time, what does that say about them? Too many meatheads throwing life in the trash can. Whatever happened to the old standby "Disturbing the peace"?

The same wankers did the same thing in South Berkeley/North Oakland last night. I could hear them because they woke me up and it went on for a while. What I didn't hear was police sirens coming to break up the group most likely due to understaffing/priorities and "defunding" the police. Unfortunately it wasn't close enough for me to determine where the sideshow was taking place so I could report it.
I feel for the residents and/or employees that have to deal with these hooligans especially since many come from out of town. Imagine if you are sick and trying to get to a hospital or doctor's appointment only to be held up by self indulgent peeps holding a sideshow. Same thing with shutting down freeways for protests &/or paying for daycare by the minute after hours...my mom was in labor and held up by a Viet Nam protest taking over the streets. Luckily my dad found a work around and made it to the hospital in time--plus there were no complications. Not so much for me, my son was born on the bathroom floor and the midwife didn't make it--again, blessed w/no complications.
If Alameda County Supervisors were smart, they'd allow sideshows on fairgrounds or the coliseum but charge an entry fee and have every individual sign a responsibility waiver. That way they can track participants and have emergency staff onsite. They could also have cars and participants inspected and pat down for firearms and weapons to try to control the crowd. JMHO.

The popo should make some armored vehicles , and turn this shit show into a demolition derby . Now that would make it exciting for both sides . The spectators could also be part of the collateral damage as they are a waste of air for their participation.

And they spend 5 years to life. Ppl always say you should put them in prison instead of suspending their license or, better yet, opening up a venue in charge. I lived in East Oakland for 7 years. Instead of trying to advocate for people to go to prison over sigh show. Why don't you and other people with your mindset? Advocate for the homeless issue that is plugging the city. Because I advocate for prison reform and law reform. I've protested during covid and after for the men and women who died in prison behind covid over 500 inmates died.
