Netrekbo ha molte pecche tecniche, e anche se dotata inizialmente di un timbro gradevole ha lacune tecniche molto evident mai risoltei... ma per valutarle bisogna intendersene davvero di lirica e non essere partigiani... Negli ultimi anni poi è quasi inascoltabile... esclusi i fans ad oltranza è indubbio che ha perso molto dello smalto iniziale e nel tempo ha evidenziato lacune notevoli... ha una voce adatta ad un certo repertorio ma qualche uccellino maligno deve averle suggerito all'orecchio che è un soprano assoluto... e lei ci ha creduto...

Bravo à Lucia Popp, deux fois bravo d'ailleurs, car j'admire la façon dont elle réussit à lutter contre les tempi débiles du chef d'orchestre, qui la presse, qui ne lui laisse jamais une seconde de répit, ce qui doit la géner terriblement pour poser sa voix, ce n'est plus l'air de Norina, c'est la charge de la cavalerie légère, ce chef n'a visiblement aucune culture de la musique italienne et donizettienne. Contrairement à Walter Skoff je tends à penser que c'est le chef qui imprime ce rythme infernal et qu'elle suit comme elle le peut, l'orchestre la presse, ne l'attend pas, le chef se fout qu'elle ait le temps ou pas de faire ses cadences. Quel chanteur n'a pas connu le despotisme imbécile de certains petits chefs d'orchestre de province, quand c'est comme ça on a beau essayer de ralentir, rien n'y fait. Vive Lucia Popp , quant au chef d'orchestre, no comment, je tiens à rester courtois.
But it has never-not once-been spelled that way, in a program, a recording, an interview, a video, an article, a review, etc, etc. Clearly she chose it to be written and pronounced “Lucia.”
She never had Italienita!!! She mainly sang german and Mozart repertory. Tempo is too quick to cover-up eventual mistakes, and one hears that she neither really had the high notes, nor she did sing coloraturas. Every Soprano should at least have a good sitting high C ! At the end of Aria the high notes are NON-EXISTENT, and the Cis did fall down.!! Minus----

Just heard Netrebko with this aria. Though one shouldn´t compare musicians but I have to admit Lucia simply and still is the best.
Of course Popp is the better singer for this repertory. Netrebko´s voice was too heavy for the role even 9 years ago.

...maybe not Mrs. Popp’s best day. But please listen to her Queen of the night arias before stating that she doesn‘t have high notes...
You must be tone deaf. Plenty of C6 plus particularly near and at the end of the aria.
