So glad you're continuing to enjoy your adventure into the music of Genesis. You commented on the two twelve string guitars playing together - Anthony Phillips & Mike Rutherford - which was a key element in the unique Genesis sound. Anthony Phillips is a master of the twelve string to the extent that Steve Hackett has said that he would not dare to even pick up a twelve string in Ant's presence. (They have become good friends in the years since they left Genesis).
As a Brit, I have been extremely lucky to have grown up with many Prog Rock bands of this era, but Genesis are still amazing me to this day with their inventiveness and delivery.
As a Romanian I was lucky that Radio Free Europe had an amazing producer, by the name Cornel Chiriac, who was a big fan of Genesis and presented their entire discography and those programs were repeated over and over, so even before I got a chance to buy the records on the black market, I could listen to them as they were released. Of course, short wave radio didn't have the best quality sound, so there was still much to discover and appreciate as I got better equipment and the full sound and power of the band was revealed.
Their original guitarist/composer is the multi-instrumentalist Anthony Phillips, who was largely responsible for this album. You should explore his solo works. His album The Geese And The Ghost is an excellent starting point, and his most popular album. But you could probably start anywhere.
@ No worries. I see you around these parts so often - why not be friendly 🙂 You’re American and your dad got you into Genesis? IIRC. May be totally wrong!
Stagnation and The Knife are my two standout favorites from Trespass. The Knife, to me counts as early metal for sure and I love it but really, Stagnation in my opinion more truly represents the early Genesis sound as well as the best hints of what their sound will become over the next 5-7 years.
The end of the song was incorporated into to " I know what I Like" section of their live shows. The only piece of Stagnation you'll hear. I'm 65 and seen every show from day 1. Amazing musicians and music. Keep them coming my friend!
Thanks once again Jone. So glad you've found that 'sweet spot' loved by so many of us (for more than 50 years in my case). I have a recommendation for you personally (you may not think it suitable as a reaction), but you should add it to that long list of recommendations to be heard some time in your lifetime.... Van Der Graaf Generator and the album Pawn Hearts; a treat for fans of stereophonic effects. Hope you get around to it some time in your crammed and busy life. X
This is a very good album and a fine tune. Yes, 'One for the Vine' is another fine tune. Their musicality and consistent quality are remarkable. A special rock band for sure. But on this album I miss the energy and creativity of Phil's drumming. Still, you hear a lot of what they are to become. These transitions are magical.
Please have a look at Steve Hacketts `Blood on the Rooftops` playing live with Orchestra. Steve was part of the Genesis i first saw and loved their music. Greetings, Michael (th-cam.com/video/MjoZnvN8u00/w-d-xo.html )
I love this new remix, but the extra effect they put on the vocals "but will I wait forever..." is a bit much and takes me out of it. Hey, isn't a Picardy Third the resolution to a major tonic triad in a minor key? I thought the whole ending section was already clearly major. I think you just meant it ended on a 4-3 suspension. A pop song that ends with a Picardy third is Chicago's "Wishing You Were Here."

To think they were barely 20 years old when they recorded this.

Thank you for this suggestions! Of course I would love to check out his music .
@@JoneRuiz His album 'the Geese & The Ghost', featuring Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins is really a lost Genesis album for me.
@@Rolling_Ronnie Thank you. It seems im loving Genesis a lot lately. Im going to check out this album from Anthony.
The whole album is wonderful and utterly unique for its time
Stagnation is the most underrated song Genesis ever composed and wrote.
This is truly beautiful , cheers for reacting to it 👍
You are going to flip over, Firth of Fifth. but that is still to come.. I envy your journey
The magical realm brought to life ❤
Those bells and harmonics
They played excerpts of this live, even at the very end
I love it!
Do you live in the US or UK? Or some where else? I am just being nosey. 👃😀
@@reneelyons6836 I’m in the UK 🌞🌦️🌈🍃
I had a feeling. Sweet. That's kind of you to respond. Thank you. 😎🌅🌊✌💙🎵🎶🎶

Great stuff! Putting the Knife on my list!
One of my favorite early Genesis songs 🤩
Great, great song!!

Top ten Genesis song

Pure gold. Please, react to Genesis - Dusk.
Gorgeous!! ✨✨✨
Love this tune I put on my earbuds at my Dr.s waiting room and was so relaxed its one of go to chill tunes now
Ahhh the sweet sound of Peter Gabriel.
Trespass is my favorite from the Gabriel era.
The song where Tony figured out he could do solis, on top of rythm section. The begining of his reign over the Genesis wall of sound.
Tony Banks, o principal membro dessa grande banda!
please more early genesis!!
I knew you'd love this one :)
I think you should introduce the rock guitar community to the works of Presti and Lagoya.

Released 23 October, when you had to be a musicians.
Well, mostly.
Honestly, I'm surprised that he didn't do a parody of Phil Collins or Lionel Richie, two big artists of the 80s.
Who didnt do a parody?
Quite different from The Knife, huh? Mellow beginnings
I love "Stagnation" and I don't like "The knife". 🤷

Never liked this album, maybe I will take another try.
This is early raw Genesis with Peter.
