पवित्र नदी गंगा हिमालय से अपनी यात्रा शुरू करती है और फिर मैदानों में गिरती है, राष्ट्र को एक माँ की भाँति पोषित और परिपोषित करने के लिए - शाश्वत प्रेम और देखभाल के साथ। उसी तरह, ऋषियों की ज्ञान की प्रकाशमय सी दीप्ति ने भारतीय सांस्कृतिक और विश्व को अविरत रूप से सेवा और पोषण किया है। यह महान परंपरा का परिणाम है जो हमें पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी मार्गदर्शन कर रही है। हमें इस परंपरा के लिए सदैव गुरुओं कृतज्ञ रहना चाहिए। इस ज्ञान को समझना और उसे दूसरों के साथ साझा करना ही उपनिषद गंगा के प्रति हमारी कृतज्ञता का सजीव अभिव्यक्ति होगी।
इस एपिसोड में आदि शंकराचार्य और उनके शिष्य - गिरि की कहानी प्रस्तुत की गई है, जो साफ तौर से शास्त्रों को समझने में असमर्थ था। इसके बजाय, उसके साथी छात्र यह महसूस करते थे कि उसका कक्षा में होना दीवारों की तरह ही है। गिरि की एकमात्र इच्छा और चिंता यह थी कि वह अपने गुरु की सेवा करें और गुरु-शिष्य परंपरा को आगे बढ़ाएं। लेकिन ऐसा छात्र ऐसा कैसे करेगा? ऐसा संभावनाता असंभाव देखने के लिए इस एपिसोड को अवश्य देखें!

The holy river Ganga starts its journey in the Himalayas and then descends to the plains to nurture and nourish the nation like a mother does - with eternal love and care. In the same way, the light of knowledge of the sages has been serving and nourishing the Indian culture and the world incessantly. This is the result of the long standing tradition of the master-disciple which has guided us generation after generation. We will forever be indebted to the Gurus for this tradition. To realise this knowledge and to share it with others alone will be the true expression of our gratitude to Upanishad Ganga.
This episode portrays the story of Adi Shankaracharya and his disciple - Giri, who was apparently unable to comprehend the scriptures well. So much so, that his fellow students felt that his presence in the class was as good as the walls listening. Giri's only wish and concern was about serving his master and carrying the Guru-shishya tradition forward. But how would such a student do so? To see the seemingly impossible become possible - definitely watch this episode!

I have listened to the entire 52 episodes, and I am very fortunate to have a much deeper understanding of the Vedic teachings. Born in the West, I was brought up in a Christian faith but that did not serve me well. I always knew that there was much more to the Universe than being born, dying and then possibly going to Heaven/Hell. 30 years ago, someone gave me the Bhagavad Gita and I took the story literally but along the way my own mother, an ordained minister, told me that the story was about Me! As I read more about Hinduism, I found the Atma Bodha and began on this quest to learn more about the Self (Myself). I have been through drugs and alcohol and had thoughts of suicide but through God's Grace I found my way back to the Peace I am. 🕉peace, peace, peace. Thank You I am so Grateful.
