  • Welcome to the newest N scale coupler from Micro-Trains, the ‘True-Scale’ Coupler! This new coupler is specifically designed for accurate scale size, more prototypical features, proper scale-distance between cars and no slinky effect when operating. This easy-to-assemble and install body mount coupler consists of a draft gear box, lid, knuckle, lip shank and a separate plug-in air hose. There are no springs. They are uncoupled manually using a sharp toothpick or a needle and can be joined by simply pushing the cars together. These couplers are to scale so they will not couple with existing larger N scale couplers. For those who have Magne-Matic or other coupler systems, you can use a conversion car (like the ones below), which comes with a Magne-Matic installed on one end and a True-Scale coupler on the other.

    How about a version of these things that'll retrofit onto the trucks themselves so those of us who need to use tight radius curves can still use these things? And perhaps a version that'll magnetically uncouple?

    I have Uploaded a Demo video on both short & long Couplers .I Absolutely Love these new Couplers & will be getting lots more .Thanks so much Micro-Trains for giving us N Scalers a True Scale Coupler . Awesome product ...............Cheers Rich-BN Rail Nut............

    Is there a list for one to consult for what coupler to use on Kato Es44s and Sd40s kato coupler seems to short and pulls the cars off the rails in turns.

    thanks for a great demo. Just getting into N gauge and it looks like I will be replacing dozens of couplers. I've book marked your excellent demo. Many thanks

    Do yo produce true scale couplers for marx o gauge rolling stock

    Looks great , would liked to see them working, thank for a great product, hope to see them working! I did see Tony Ryans video and they didn't work all that well, but he did say they were test models. ..

    sounds like a good choice for my ore car unit train

    Will most of your future rolling stock be coming out with the true scale couplers, or will you still be making rolling stock with the standard Micro Trains coupler?

    • @MicroTrains
      @MicroTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Our rolling stock will still be manufactured with the Magne-Matic coupling system.

    Can anyone tell me what size a .009 tap is? I can't find any info about it even on Google

    Some couplers in video looked like they did not line up well, but I like the idea....costs?

    I have been using your Z scale on my N scale for years. Are the True-Scale comparable ?

    • @MicroTrains
      @MicroTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My apologies, the N True-Scale couplers are not compatible with the Z Scale Magne-Magnic couplers. The N Scale True-Scale are slightly smaller and will not connect with our Z Scale MM couplers.

      @@MicroTrains he said comparable, not compatible ;) my guess is he's wondering if the size is similar.

    How do I know if I need long or short shank? My layout is on a hollow-core door - tighter radii than one might find on a huge club or N Trak layout... I'd guess that the long shank is better for tighter radii?

      @Mark Noble you'll want to stick to magnematic and/or figure out how to truck mount these. Someone on NSN got their hands on a bunch of these things and reported back on them. Turns out they're beyond useless for people who run curves tighter than 15" or so.

    • @MarkNobleUS
      @MarkNobleUS 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah... I think I'm going to use them for my detailing/weathering projects and maybe as part of my Free-MoN (min radius 22") fleet. 12" minimum on the inside of my double-tracked door layout. 14" radius on the outside track. Thanks for the heads-up!

    cool idea, could you do a pull test on them and see how many cars it would take for a coupler to fail? I use sergeant engineering couplers and I can pull easily 100+ cars even up 4% incline without any worries about couplers coming apart or breaking

      SSGSSG i would like to know if they can somehow couple up with a sergent coupler considering their knuckle profile looks way better than even the most realistic kadee offering which is the kadee 58

    • @reynantebulaon4513
      @reynantebulaon4513 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Might be a good intercar coupler for HOn3 and HOn30 couplers, while the main loco coupler is a sergent sharon

    Well that sucks!!! Go through all of that, and then no demonstration of them working? WTH?
