Hey everyone if you want to support the channel head over to fishofhex.com Buy 3 get 1 Free on all 3d printing and plenty of coral from the 300 gallon reef. HyperReef Light Shades: fishofhex.com/collections/light-shades?custom=
Man, I love your take on the hobby. Money doesn't buy skill. I actually run a small coral farm (400g total water volume) that is ALL budget equipment and DIY. You name it, I can grow it. I'm always drawn to these videos specifically because I'm a huge fan of Nicrew lights. I have 16 of them. I recently acquired some gen 5 radions that I only had over one of my tanks for a month before I took them down and put the nicrews back up. I couldn't get the color dialed in the way I wanted, and the app is trash. I'm not a huge fan of LED in general (been an avid hobbyist for 20 years, I can't help it), and the only one I've ever used and actually liked is nicrew.
I've found over the last few years that VERY often the 'budget generic' option for equipment is almost always the better choice than overpriced, over-advertised "brand name" gear. I have Nicrew lights on one tank, and they grow acropora just as well and just as fast as the MUCH pricier AI Hydras on my other tank. When I first started in the hobby, I dropped big dollars on getting several Ecotech MP40 power heads. While they moved TONS of water. I had never ending problems with flow patterns, parts breaking and needing expensive replacements, and more than one wet side had rusting which killed off a good number of SPS. I went over to Jebao gyre still powerheads and haven't had a single one of those problems.
I've ran nicrew in the past with success. Giving noopsyche a try next. Got two k7 pro 3's replacing a 5 year old reef breeders. Anymore any reef targeted light can grow corals regardless of price tag.
I would really be interested if you or someone you know can design hang on kits for these lights. For like the AI Blades or Reefbrite XHO’s. Wil definitely buy some shades for my 150s at some point

Thanks for the video! I plan on buying the nicrew's to upgrade my viparspectra and it is great to here are your experience with these lights.
I like the NiCrew lights a lot. I have one on my Biocube 32, and it grows acropora just as well as the AI Hydra 32s do on my 90 gallon tank.
Good idea . Thank you for your service 😊
Awesome idea. Speaking of budget lighting, ever see the pop bloom lights? R90 i think.
Ive got 4 Nicrew 150s on my 3'x4' tank. Probably overkill, but still cost less than 1 XR30 (which wouldnt cover my tank alone)
I wish a led light like nicrew was available when I first started. I would have been all over that budget bad boy.
Travis, how are you doing health wise since the hospital scare last month? I hope you are doing well, sir
Does you make them for the 50 by any chance
Waiting for someone to send me in a light

Say you have replaced your reefbreeder with the k7 if so you like them as good as the reefbreeder and like them better then the nicrew
@jamescovington7670 just received my k7s yesterday, unfortunately they didn't send the brackets I ordered with the lights.....
